The band's name is about the movie rather than (my) country. And yes, most Brazilians listen to shtty music, but then again most teenagers nowadays listen to sht anyway, no matter the country. I do say that from own experience(Europe). Ps: This band was GOOD.

Tearsamongashes, its because most of brazillians dont search for information on internet or another places, and radio, mtv brasil, and anothers tv networks are telling that emo and emocore is a thing that is not true and, emocore is not what they are telling to brazillians that emocore is. They are justing make that for the money, to people think "I am underground now, i am emo, i listen to emocore, now i am alternative, i am cool" Most people on brazil just choose their artistis that they will listen from the list of artistis that radio, mtv and others tv networks offer to them ( and that is a very small and a very bad list), they dont search on the net or serious magazines about music for musician and artistis that they will like. Even some brazilians that are on last.fm listen to the same shit that are everyday on radio, even with accounts on last.fm, a place that is really easy to find new artists, they dont do that.

I think that the name is more an allusion to Terry Gilliam's film than an homage to the South American nation. As far as emo, the sound is more sophisticated than that. True, I'm a big fan, so maybe I'm biased. But Brazil sound more like a progressive rock band channeling Queen.
