i don't think it's stupid that people can dislike the band because they dislike the sound of the vocalist's voice. And i can imagine that people can hate mr.V's voice, as well as Vortex's voice. They are both very original and special each in their own way. I just feel sorry for those people because they don't know what they're missing! :p Vortex is singing on one song called "My Domain" on the new album. And it was delayed because of some changes within their record company Indie Distribution.

i think it is possible, that a band can suck solely bcs of the vocalist. vintersorg has a very special voice that suits perfectly with hisown project, especially on till fjälls. but any project he does, he gives his own note BCS of his voice so that in the end of the day they all sound pretty much the same. imho that is. borknagar has lost this great atmosphere they got in the first place. i weep for that and i indeed blame it on vintersorg. i will not listen to them anymore as long as they keep him as the vocalist. and: this may be as stupid as you may think it is, i dont care.

Well, people were making similar comments in the Scar Symmetry Shoutbox about their two new vocalists in comparison to their previous one. People need to think of it this way when regarding older songs being sung by new vocalists. Those vocal melodies and harmonies on older songs were written for the previous vocalists style, and in some cases it's harder for a new vocalist to reproduce that same sound, or even preform the song well. I enjoy all of Borknagar's material whether it's with Garm, Vortex or Vintersorg. I won't stoop down to a low level and say which era I prefer most because they all have their ups and downs, but chastising a new singer for singing an older song poorly is pretty stupid, but everyone has their own opinions.. Here's hoping Universal is good,.

Just like if you have known the original song, you will almost always dislike its cover-version. People's nature i guess. I don't have these prejudices as i've known Bork only for a few years. I like almost every album, every vocalist brings his own touch and diversity to the music, and i can appreciate all three of them. But, since i do believe that Vortex sings better than mr.V, i'm glad he's at least doing some guest vocals.

When I heard Epic, I felt it was something completely new- something much more adventurous and interesting than anything that I'd ever heard before. So obviously, I can't relate to your 'rehash' statement, at all. By Progressive, I mean that it's extreme in composition, defying convention, eccentric. The Olden Domain is a strong album and worth listening to, but it was a necessary stepping stone to get where they are now. All of this depends on where you are at as a listener, as well.

The progressive argument is pretty surprising, seeing how much the new albums felt like a rehash to me, definitely anything but fresh sounding and/or inspired. The Olden Domain definitely draws influence from a lot of other sources than just plain straight black metal as well. However, the new stuff completely abandons any traces of the old, (and I'm not referring only to Origin) making it much more a matter of completely replacing their style than "progression".
