    I came here to link the STUNNING February 8th, 1990 performance of this wonderful little song and found that it's the official video! Nice. Anyway, I think the music is excellent and the lyrics endearingly (very endearingly) straightforward. I would've said clumsy, but Christopher Ricks provides a pretty nuanced reading in Visions of Sin that changed my mind.

    some say this is a bad song. i love how this song and ring them bells are completely secular, yet at the same time conjure up images in my mind of a minister preaching.
