Song about Bob & Suze Rotolo's break up. Suze had moved into sister Carla's apartment. Bob came over and belligerently demanded that Suze come home with him. Carla told Bob to leave and he refused. Apparently Bob grab Suze by the arm attempting to drag her with him. Then Bob and Carla got into a physical altercation and friends were called. Bob had to be forcibly removed from the apartment.

Ah my friends from the prison, they ask unto me "How good, how good does it feel to be free?" And I answer them most mysteriously "Are birds free from the chains of the skyway"

Crazy? More like normal (alas). And while it *is* a breakup song, obviously, in terms of sound and composition I wouldn't say it has anything in common with Blood on the Tracks at all!

definitely foreshadowing Blood on The Tracks here..also Dylan kind of comes off crazy, fighting and yelling..i guess it happens, and he was like 22 or something. "Are birds free from the chains of the skyway?" that's the key line though - if for that line alone, it was still worth writing.

This has been one of my least favorite Dylan songs since I got to know Another Side, but it played in a dream I had last night and when I woke up at 5AM and thought about & recognized what tune it was, I played it and it sounded magnificent. A lot of the lyrics still come off amateurish, but now I know there's a power to the song that transcends its own limitations!

Beneath a bare lightbulb, the plaster did pound; her sister and I in a screaming battleground - and she in between, the victim of sound, soon shattered as a child to the shadows.

I can kind of see why he regrets having written it.

The words to say I’m sorry, I haven’t found yet I think of her often and hope whoever she’s met Will be fully aware of how precious she is

It's 8 minutes long? Seriously? Another side is one of the few albums I only listen to on vinyl and I get so lost in it. I love it when Dylan does love songs. And "Are birds free from the chains of the skyway?" That's how I feel.
