Incredible music, just doesn't flow as well as the the others from beginning to end in my opinion.

If you can be told what you can see or read, then it follows that you can be told what to say or think

I think after all this is Boards of Canada's best work in terms of structure and composition and pacing, the record also carries some of the duo's best tracks, tho this is obviously a case of the whole being way better than just the sum of its parts. hands down, this is THE Boards of Canada album.

Why are there only 14 tracks... It's a 17 song album, 18 if you count the re-release

"the first section of their most highly referenced work is also one of the most impenetrable and potentially off putting to new fans" It's true. You really can't listen to this album with any background noise i.e. on a bus, walking in a mall, as you'll likely miss out on the little intricate workings of each track and their samples. When I first listened to it (in my formerly noisy work environment), I thought it was just an average piece of ambient techno that's occasionally rather dull. You need to listen to it in a quiet space i.e. bedroom, from start to finish, and just let the dreamy nostalgic atmosphere wash over you. Afterwards, you'll likely "get" why this album is excellent (at least that's how it worked for me).

"the first half of the record is much more minimal and repetitive than the second, and can be a headache if you're not in the right mood." bro, please.
