The band started in 1994 as a solo project, with Vindsval playing all instruments under the name Vlad. He released two demos under this title before changing the projects name to Blut Aus Nord before the release of Ultima Thulée in 1995. The next three albums were recorded with the aid of session musicians: It is only fairly recently that the group has had any permanent members apart from Vindsval.
The project’s most critically acclaimed release is The Work Which Transforms God, a concept album which - in spite of being mostly instrumental with none of the lyrics made public - is meant to challenge the listener’s prejudices and preconceptions about reality, life and various metaphysical subjects. The Work Which Transforms God has been almost unanimously praised in reviews and was named by Terrorizer Magazine as it’s number one album of 2003. However, some people find that album a pointless exercise in weirdness for weirdness’ sake. Another point of interest is that Vindsval has only allowed the lyrics from one of Blut Aus Nord’s four full-length releases, Memoria Vetusta, to be published and thus made public.

I have listened to BAN pretty much and I must admit - for me the best release probably is Ultima Thulée. It has the quality of speedy BAN and hyper slow, keyboard based. Best of both BAN worlds. And such an atmosphere! Great work.

Sects and The Desanctification 'very separate beasts'? What the fuck? Haha.I definitely enjoy Sect(s) more, but I'd also rather they'd gone a slightly different direction. These two albums (and I'm guessing the next will be similar) are decent, but I really don't think they stand up to the quality of much of the older material. Oh well. The only album I'd put them above, or alongside, is MoRT.

What the potato you are talking about? So what about other bands - grind black death, isn't worster than this darkwave rock band? Many hippies listens power metal from a 8 years old to 60 and all time believed in Jesus, by the way, I know and have heared alot of times than metalhead becomes a priest ;) so think about it is no/match band can be realy evil. Real evil not everything that people see. Real evil allways looks pure and innocent, because evil chooses these people.
