  • How varied is your taste?

    Dez 22 2009, 17h30 por tonyab1708

First, make a list of your top-20 artists overall. Then, for each of these artists, add the 8 most similar artists to your list. Delete any duplicates, count up the number of entries on your list and this will give you some idea of how eclectic your listening habits are. A score of 9 represents an extremely unvaried musical taste while a 160 represents an extremely varied one.

Blind Faith - Blind Faith was formed in late 1968 when Eric Clapton (ex-Cream) and Steve Winwood (ex-Traffic) were at loose ends following the demise of their former bands and began to spend time together again (they had previously collaborated on a record as Powerhouse), jamming and working on new material at Clapton's house in Surrey.Blind FaithTocarPresence Of The Lord

  • Ginger Baker at his best

    Set 28 2008, 23h31 por hdsander

Sometimes, being in nostalgic mood, I listen to my old vinyls (resp. the ripped mp3-version of them). This best of Ginger Baker compilation from 1972 (36 years ago, for those guys, who need a pocket calculator to compute that) knocked my socks off today (once again).

    GINGER BAKER/AT HIS BEST (1972):

    1. Let Me Ride - Ginger Baker's Air Force
    2. TocarHad To Cry Today - Blind Faith
    3. I Don't Want To Go On Without You - Ginger Baker's Air Force
    4. TocarDo What You Like - Blind Faith
    5. Da Da Man - Ginger Baker's Air Force
    6. Sweet Wine - Ginger Baker's Air Force
    7. TocarWell All Right - Blind Faith
    8. TocarCan't Find My Way Home - Blind Faith
    9. Aiko Biaye - Ginger Baker's Air Force

The compilation does not include Baker's exceptional performances with Cream (Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker). Another band of him that I love is BBM (Jack Bruce - Ginger Baker - Gary Moore), who released only one album Around The Next Dream in 1994, alas!

  • My Top 5 Favourite Guitarists

    Jun 1 2008, 1h23 por Gibson1976

I was inspired by Co-Z to make my own list. His list was possibly the best list I've ever seen, I agree on all his least favourites :P. Here's my list:

    Top 5

    5.)
Jimi Hendrix-Jimi Hendrix,The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Is it neccessary to explain why.. check out this video

    4.)
Stevie Ray Vaughn-Stevie Ray Vaughn,Stevie Ray Vaughn And Double Trouble

This guy is AMAZING on the guitar I'd say. He isn't the best technical player, but man oh man he is an AWESOME player in his own bloody way. Lots and lots of soul in his stuff. Check out his duel with Jeff Beck

    3.)
Jimmy Page-Led Zeppelin,The Yardbirds,Page and Plant,Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes

The List Goes On And On..

I always liked Page. Even before I was a fan of Zeppelin to be honest. He is a very unique player, he isn't a mind blowing player I think, but man I'd kill to see him and Zeppelin again. Rumour has it that there going on a world tour.

    2.)
    Angus Young-AC/DC

Thats right I'm sure you all saw this coming. Angus to be honest isn't a really good guitar player technical wise or scalier wise. But he is a really really good entertainer. There is just something about this guy I'm not sure what it is, I love his style, I love his stage act. Great guitarist, go check out AC/DC if you haven't already. Rumour has it that there new album will be out late summer/early fall reported by Brian Johnson.

    1.)
    Eric Clapton-John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers,The Yardbirds,Cream,Derek and the Dominos,Blind Faith,Eric Clapton

This was a tough choice, Angus respectively could have easily taken this spot, but Clapton I think deserves it much more. His playing is just awesome, his solo's make me want to quit playing guitar period.. have fun MathiasPage at the Clapton Concert!

  • been in a strange mood lately...

    Mai 9 2008, 16h53 por jefferyn

got burnt out on all my usual genres... oddly enough i found myself playing some of the old R&R that was around when i was a kid... funny how many decades it's been since i've listened to most of it. my older brothers used to play all of that and i got into it and played it to death in the 70's... i never stopped listening to some 70's like Bowie or Stevie Winwood from Blind Faith, Traffic, or T-rex... ( it looks like last fm currently has winwood's name misspelled as windwood... ) i suppose since artists like Daniel Ash have remixed Telegram Sam and Ziggy Stardust, that some of the 70's music never went out of style for me... but there were a lot of bands i dropped like Led Zeppelin and other such rock bands... it is interesting hearing them again after all these years... i can see that it was the songs that had a lot of blues influence that really appealed to me, though i didn't know that when i was a kid... it always fun hearing other old R&R remixed into other genres these days... Laibach always comes to mind... can't say i like all remakes, but some are quite fun... i have a whole playlist on my eyepod of remakes... boy, i love what itunes and my eyepod let me do to organize my music... but that's another topic...

anyway, i must have heard enough R&R since i'm back to daniel ash today... boy that Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven was soooooo good...
