Ago 9 2012, 2h05 por music_man_76Welcome to my on going effort to promote the music of female vocalists and female fronted bands. I hope you find this research tool useful to you in growing a greater appreciation of these wonderful women singers and musicians. Some of these artists are well known while others are working hard to be discovered. The first link will take you to the artist's Last.fm home page. The following link(s) takes you to the website(s) where the artist is offering a free download.
I would like to give a special thanks to my friend Ken aka Pretty-Life, who has brought to my attention so many of the fantastic female artists found in this journal. Thanks, Ken!

Satanique & Angelique (EP)
Dez 3 2011, 21h47 por colin_zrSince looking at Mixcloud a few weeks ago I've been thinking of making a series of mixes. I've had a stab at doing a few of them now, with the guiding philosophy that there should be something that unites the musical choices, though not strictly that they all fit into one genre. Here's my first effort, very loosely based around a theme of darkwave but venturing into other genres as well: http://www.mixcloud.com/czrobertson/2011-11-20-slow-and-dark/
Here's the playlist:
00:00 - 04:25: Eduard Artemiev - Stalker: Train
04:25 - 08:09: Ordo Equilibrio - Under the Rose, Coitus Excelsi. Pain, Bondage and Subjugation.
08:09 - 15:41: Lycia - The Morning Breaks So Cold and Gray
15:41 - 19:59: Insomnis - Farther Away
19:59 - 24:10: Elhaz - Glory
24:10 - 29:31: Peter Bjärgo - A Wave Of Bitterness
29:31 - 33:43: Black Tape for a Blue Girl - Given
33:43 - 37:37: Cocteau Twins - Otterley
Ago 1 2011, 19h25 por NeferastI'd like to address the Harsh comments regarding this photo of
Black Tape for a Blue Girl
Dear Gothlings who wrote such Silly comments,
Black Tape for a Blue Girl have been goth, moreover darkwave, longer than most of you have been alive. I've known Sam since '96. We eldergoths do what we pleaae. We've earned that privilege.
Short hair and Black Suits were standard attire for many (attributed) Original Goths (males). Chains, wild hair, most sharp metals and ripped attire didn't come into the picture until years later.
You do know who Peter Murphy is.. Yes?
Peter Murphy wearing white suit shirt

How about Robert Smith? When he wears his hair short and doesn't 'tease' it up, he often wears the SAME short cut.

(note: I'm 5'10 and wearing platform boots, so I'm actually standing very awkwardly for these photos. You can't really tell, but that's Mel Draper the lead singer from Soulscape standing directly behind us. Please no comments on the cigarette because after 15 years of smoking, yes I've quit. :)
Rachel's Surrender (Left to Right): Liz Nickrenz aka Amadea Hadley (Scissorkiss), Elyzabeth Grant (Black Tape for a Blue Girl), Michael Verzani (Soulscape, Arch Visceral Parlor, Mercurine, Bale, Dalet-Yod, Emilie Autumn, Garden of Dreams) and Rueben Surrender (Garden of Dreams, bliss.city.east, Arch Visceral Parlor)

Ago 4 2010, 2h29 por kurohimeThis is me once again trying to define musical genres, especially the ones that are in some way called dark.
My interest in melancholic, somber, and even tragic tunes has grown since childhood. On Last.fm I look for music that fits this taste of mine, but I noticed I do not perform an specific search for one simple reason: I can't easily label music. This difficulty may be explained by the fact that many bands mix different kinds of music together, being it hard to define what is purely post-punk, gothic rock, new wave, darkwave, ethereal, cold wave (coldwave)...
I wish I could understand this better.
Modernum Decadentia Oppositorum, Gargula Valzer, Igreja Do Sexo, Dead Roses Garden, excisio, A Industrya, Última Dança, Almas Mortas, In Auroram, Elegia, Der Kalte Stern, Luiza Fria, Cabine C, Maldita, Arte No Escuro, Lupercais, Lucca Kosta, Plastique Noir, Bells of Soul, Days are Nights, The Knutz, Lokasenna IOC, Effets Secondaires, Fasci Di Combattimento, Art Abscons, Chronique Nocturne…
