I like this album but the following annoys me -> Wanderlust is trying to be Joga/Hyperballad; Declare Independence is trying to be Pluto; and finally, My Juvenile is trying to be Headphones.

Earth Intruders and declare independence <3. But the entire album is actually really good!

brilliant album to say the very least, but can someone get rid of the "featuring..." thing in My Juvenile? I know it says it on the inside sleeve but that's not really part of the song :P

Despite its name, I think The Dull Flame of Desire is one of the most emotional duets I've ever heard. And I love every single track of Volta; Pneumonia included, even if I don't listen to it so much.

zerlinki escreveu:
Completely agree OsakaPolice. After much frustration, I am only just starting to truly appreciate Volta.

It takes some time, people, but the album is truly a masterpiece though!

I think the same as Seasonreaper: "Pretty good album, but Dull Flame of Desire is epically boring." I just add: Declare Independence is unbearable. Volta is the only Björk album where I don't like the whole tracks.

the track that sucks in this album is Hope. dull flame rocks. and so does pneumonia.

I think it (dull flame of desire being amazing) is mostly due to Antony Hegarty & Brian Chippendale

My second favorite of Bjork (tied with Homogenic), and incredibly underrated. Pneumonia aside, all songs are so strong and with great messages :o

Nevermind the comment below. I gave into iTunes. I honestly think this album is somewhat a sequel to Debut; actually not really a sequel, but a modernized look at Debut.

Can anybody rapidshare or megaupload this for me? It's amazing that there arent any good torrents for this album. They all have 'scratches.' Don't worry, I'll eventually pay my due when I order her DVDs as well as Live Box, theres no way im not gonna pay for those. :P

This album takes some getting used to for sure, made so much more sense after seeing some of these tracks performed live. Seen the Wanderlust video? It's awesome. X

Volta is great, but at first I thought it was a quite strange. Not the best, sincerely I prefer Post and Homogenic, but it could be at the top 5 xD =]

Are those twitchings and little cut-offs in tracks (Wanderlust, etc.) are intended or it's my files' problems?

i still can't get through Pneumonia and My Juvenile even after almost a year of listening or something. and i still think Innocence is the biggest joke Bjork made.

Well, opinions are well spread. Seems like most people don't like this album very much. As a matter of fact, I do. I simply love the beats and lyrics and styles of the songs. Volta has something, what other albums don't have, something new/refreshing in the sound of Björk.. but that's just my opinion. I like Homogenic, Post and Volta best.

Joelsmusic escreveu:
Hvalskards: Vespertine is full of lush, orchestral songs and while they're all coherent with the overall theme of the album etc., my main point is you can have too much of a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I love verspertine. Volta, for me, is better because its varied and seems alive, whereas Vespertine is like a comfort zone for Bjork.
-
Hvalskards escreveu:
vespertine doesn't work as a whole (whereas volta does)?!?!?!?!?!? well, if vespertine as a concept album doesn't work as a whole - then i don't know what does... [to Joelsmusic] nevertheless Volta is a great album - but nothing's like Homogenic! :]

dodoriazarbon escreveu:
Can't wait for the live album. This album comes alive on stage only, it seems. Vertebrae by Vertebrae literally fucked me with it's awesomeness live.
-
Joelsmusic escreveu:
This is a great album. One of the ways Volta works is I can easily play it all the way through without stopping. and all the songs are great on their own (Except pneumonia... which is still dull and lifeless to me). With something like Vespertine, all the songs are incredible, but it doesn't work as a whole, whereas volta does.
-
dodoriazarbon escreveu:
Wanted to say exactly whatr cafecaligula, except replace Vespertine with Homogenic. :) However, Volta clicked with me ages ago! <3

Spending more time with it before the Manchester gig. To be honest, I was a little less fond of this than the others since I heard it when it came out, and I've still not listened to it very much. It's starting to grow on me a bit, I don't dislike it at all, but I still prefer the rest as of yet. Vespertine remains the favourite...
