  • 2009 Albums Of The Year

    Dez 10 2009, 20h36 por ScroogeFlu

To be honest, 2009 has been my favourite year for music. Probably because my listening habits really stepped up. Anyway, here's the list.

    10. Rebuilt By Humans - Newton Faulkner
While not as good as the debut, still a solid as fuck album considering he spazzed his arm up and it is his second album.
    Best Track: Won't Let Go

    9. Black Clouds & Silver Linings - Dream Theater
Probably their best album to date. With the exception of that arsehole Best Of Times, every track is fucking pro and is heavy as hell at some point. Except wither. Bonus tracks were well worth it, and overall a solid album from an amazing band.
    Best Track: The Shattered Fortress

    8. Octahedron - The Mars Volta
Until recently I hated the OMARS VOLTA (lol yeah?) , but Twilight As My Guide turned my mind and now the Volta are among my top 10 bands. This is a wicked album, certainly better than the baffling Frances The Mute in my opinion.
Best Tracks: With Twilight As My Guide, Cotopaxi

    7. The Blueprint III - Jay-Z
Simply put, my favourite hip-hop album of all time. Got me back into hip-hop and is completely accessible to fans of basically anything. And Jay-Z is cool as hell.
Best Tracks: Off That, On To The Next One, A Star Is Born

    6. Scar Obscura - Sinocence
A northern irish thrash metal band. That I basically know. They made a fucking beast of an album. Totally amazing, and i got it for free :D
Best Tracks: The whole fuckin album

    5. Humbug - Arctic Monkeys
Not what I was expecting, but despite a bad choice of image change, the Arctic Monkeys have impressed me this year; Humbug was a badass album. Took a few listens but I adore this album. Seeing it live was even better. And plus, Lars Ulrich made their debut his album of the DECADE. So I'm allowed to have this here :D
Best Tracks: Potion Approaching, Dangerous Animals, Secret Door

    4. Common Dreads - Enter Shikar
Quite simply. An awesome album. I hated Enter Shikari prior to this release. Juggernauts came out quite a while before the album and I was intrigued. It was an interesting new sound, lacking the whingy puberty screams of their debut. The album came out and my mind was blown. Absolutely amazing album. Going to see them live tomorrow.
Best Tracks: Hectic, Solidarity, Step Up

    3. The Great Misdirect - Between the Buried and Me
I got into BTBAM earlier in the year and I was delighted to not have to wait long for their 6th album. Short as hell, but perfectly formed. Another delightful album with excellent production and all that. Read my last blog if you want specifics.
Best Tracks: The Great Misdirect - Between The Buried And Me

    2. Wrath - Lamb of God
Holy shit. A fucking storming ride of metal I've never experience before and probably won't experience again. C'est tout.
Best Tracks: Wrath - Lamb Of God

    1.Constellations - August Burns Red

    The evidence speaks for itself.
    Best Album.

    Honorable mentions:
No Time To Bleed - Suicide Silence
    The Resistance - Muse
    Relapse - Eminem
The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion - dredg
    Evangelion - Behemoth
Deflorate - The Black Dahlia Murder
In This Light And On This Evening -Editors (Practically #11.)
    Dethroned - Architects

  • The Ultimate Shit-Sucking Failfests of 2009

    Dez 9 2009, 5h56 por unholymassacre

Worst of the worst released in 2009. Music so bad that it will give you ear cancer, cause sterility in men/infertility in women, and just make you wonder what the fuck you're doing wasting your life on such inept garbage.

    10. Krallice - Dimensional Bleedthrough
Hipster Weakling worship pulled off by a duo of wankers that are surely a match made in heaven.

    9. Bethlehem - A Sacrificial Offering to the Kingdom of Heaven in a Cracked Dogs Ear
Brilliant idea, let's take S.U.I.Z.I.D. and emphasize on the experimental side that fucked over Bethlehem throughout their last couple of albums.

    8. Devin Townsend - Ki/Addicted
Devin Townsend is a gifted individual. He is the L. Ron Hubbard of music, brainwashing people into thinking that he's good because he's different. It's come to the point that he will shit out ANYTHING and people will eat it up. If he recorded himself literally taking a shit, people would buy it. If he did a crunk album that's worse than Brokencyde, people would eat it up. These two albums that came out this year are nothing more than vapid bullshit that's forever tainting music. God forbid what he's shitting out next.

    7. Pestilence - Resurrection Macabre
If Patrick Mameli was so desperate for money, he could have just dressed in drag and prostituted himself throughout the Netherlands instead of shitting all over the Pestilence name with this used condom. Save your time and go for Asphyx's newest, now that has a death metal vocalist with balls.

    6. Dethklok - The Dethalbum II
Cartoon metal band writes more shitty music for basement dwellers and pseudo-metal fans.

    5. Between the Buried and Me - The Great Misdirect
An embodiment of everything terrible in music, whether it would be watered down King Crimson style structures or the obvious contrived -core elements plaguing this throughout, this is garbage that should be avoided at all costs if you know what's best for you.

    4. Chimaira - The Infection
I've hated this band for a long time, mostly due to the fact that they do nothing but pick whatever trend is ripe and try to conform to it. This is pure guano here, nothing but uninspired, soulless and meaningless downtuned chugging over unlistenable vocals. Who can honestly tolerate this crap? Deaf people? People without music taste? People that still dickride Dimebag's rotting cock? Fuck this band and everything related to them.

    3. Amesoeurs- Amesoeurs
The reason this isn't higher is that they did the wise thing and broke up.

    2. Lamb of God - Wrath
This was mandatory, because it's THE EXACT SAME ALBUM AS BEFORE, and before that, and before that, and... you might as well listen to Nickelback instead.

    1. Slayer - World Painted Blood
Slayer's glory years have been gone for over two decades. Now they're just beating a dead horse with this used tampon, making music that will appeal to pseudo-metal fans that love "Reign in Blood" but don't even know that Haunting the Chapel exists.

Other bands that failed this year:
    Behemoth
    Fleshgod Apocalypse
    Obscura
    Dying Fetus
    Cattle Decapitation
    Porcupine Tree
    Converge
    Swallow the Sun
    Insomnium
    The Black Dahlia Murder
    Mastodon
    Despised Icon
    Oceano

Hopefully I can do my best of soon...

  • My Best Albums (2009)

    Dez 8 2009, 16h53 por ag0nysatan

1- Azarath - Praise the Beast

Well, i didn't suprise when i first listened, Inferno is still Inferno and the guitar is still always melodic and technical. It easily settled in my number 1 in 2009!

    2- Deströyer 666 - Defiance

Omg, how can i describe this, such a great album? Well, it's hard to define when you listen Deströyer 666 - Defiance. If you haven't check it out, now you should.

3- Ad Hominem - Dictator- a monument of glory

In my top three i selected extreme genres of music, i am more into extreme music, i kinda like it more. Ad Hominem was my best surprise to be honest, i didn't expect something awesome like this.

4- Anaal Nathrakh - In the Constellation of the Black Widow

Maybe you say, why at number 4? I don't know, it's hard to list these albums but don't be confused with numbers, the meaning of that album that gives you the most important thing. It's number 4 but IT STILL KICKS ASS!

5- The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die

In other genres i managed to pick this album. I really enjoyed listening while doing jogging, driving etc. They know how to make a solid album.

    6- Behemoth - Evangelion

When this one had come out, i thought this will be my top one, but IT WASN'T REALLY. It was a disappointment for me, but still i am their number 1 fan in TURKEY, and if they didn't release such a fucking awesome album like DEMIGOD, i would say this album was great too. But, man you know Behemoth's quality line is so way high.

    7- Shining - VI - Klagopsalmer

I know i am not a good progressive music listener but i enjoyed this album especially Kvarforth's clean vocals. Such an amazing vocals man, i didn't expect him to be like an emotional clean vocalist.

8- Ataraxia - Oil On Canvas

I was randomly listening some medieval stuffs and i saw that band, and started to get addicted. Clearly this album deserved my top ten.

    9- Arckanum - ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ

I don't like Pure Black Metal, Raw Black Metal or whatever you tag it, you understand what i am saying but man Arckanum gave Raw Black Metal sound with fucking good music quality.

    10- Marduk - Wormwood

I was expecting like Rom 5:12, the song names are different only. Who cares man, GO AND BUY THAT ALBUM RIGHT NOW!

I haven't fully listened Dark funeral, Nile, Belphegor etc so i didn't put them into competition.
My big surpise (in a positive way) was Ad Hominem and
My big disappointment was Evangelion (Behemoth).

  • The new face of black metal

    Dez 7 2009, 1h23 por The_Night_Head

They said it couldnt be done, they said it was impossible, they said you'd be crazy to even try, but one band has finally done it. One band, Agathodaimon, have finally achieved the unimaginable. The first band to crack the mystery that has confounded musicians across the world for centuries now. They are the first band to flawlessly combine the once incompatible genres of pop and black metal, into one superior art form.

Drawing influences from the timeless greats (Burzum, Darkthrone, Immortal and more), infused with refreshing stylish helpings of 21st century pop, they surpass all predecessors with their extensive discography loaded with masterpiece after masterpiece.Their latest album, Phoenix, caused an earthquake in the black metal scene when it hit the shelves earlier this year, and since then has been flying off them quicker than you can count. I suggest you all go and download them, or better yet pick yourselves up a copy. You dont want to miss the chance to hear is what is quite possibly the most groundbreaking, progressive music to ever grace the earth.

  • WORST OF 2009

    Dez 6 2009, 8h50 por kurashu

I didn't bother listening to the first three on the list. But really, you know I'm right.

    8 Deathklok - Deathalbum II

Obligatory Dethklok hate. But seriously, this band is a farce and the music is subpar at best. The show sucks, too.

7 Lamb of God - Wrath

People are still buying this trash? Really? Probably a bunch of drunk rednecks who think this garbage is death metal and the best thing to come along since Dimebag learned power chords.

6 Every deathcore release this year
OceanoImpending DoomABACABBSuicide SilenceWinds of PlagueDead Man in RenoCircle of ContemptThe ContortionistThe Red ChordDespised Icon et cetera

5 Baroness - The Blue Record

Maybe my "advance" copy wasn't the final version, but it sure enough turned me off from this stinker. Their drummer was the best part and it sounded like everything was replaced by cardboard boxes and Rubbermaid containers. I'm going back to my alternate universe where this doesn't exist.

    4 Obscura - Cosmogensis

You'd expect with a name like Obscura and a decent line up that this would be an bawesome possum album. WRONG! If you like your "progressive technical" death metal served with a large dosing of jizz and scales, then this is the album for you. If you're expecting something that does Obscura -- the album -- tribute, then stay away.

    3 Samael - Above

I had been meaning to check out this band and this album had been talked up and hyped up a lot-- which should have been the first sign, most good things aren't that hyped up. What I was presented with when I listened to this excuse for an album was 16 tracks of hipster grindcore complete with pointless jazz interludes and wandering songs. I didn't realize grindcore songs were allowed to be long to wander in the first place.

...Wait, I'm thinking of Antigama's Warning. Am I? ...Yeah, I'm pretty sure on second thought it's Warning.

Anyways, Above is pretty forgettable, too. Samael should have written a better album so I could at least remember which band to blast in the review.

The cover's pretty cool, though... I guess. Never mind, I was thinking of Warning again.

2 Between the Buried and Me – The Great Misdirect

A part of me was actually excited to see this album come out. I was greatly impressed with Colors for all the wrong reasons but I really enjoyed that album. The Great Misdirect seems more cohesive, better written and preformed with greater skill but lacks the same punch of Colors -- or even Alaska or any of the other albums. Lack of a stand out track like Ants of the Sky or the Sun of Nothing really hurt as well. Better luck next time.

    1 Behemoth - Evangelion

It's not that I didn't enjoy this album, I did. Daimonos and Shemhamforash and Ov Fire and the Void are good tracks. But the rest of the album lacks the same punch, and overall it's the exact same pattern as The Apostasy and Demigod. I'm all for "If it ain't broke don't fix it" but I'm also all for improving and changing. Sorry Nergal, but do something a bit more interesting next time.

Good Band Spam -- moar here to piss off fans than spread the word because it's funny:
