This isn't a single CD!!! "Into the Electric Castle is a progressive metal two-disc album released in 1998 by Dutch multi-instrumentalist Arjen A. Lucassen. It is the third album of his Ayreon project. After the previous Ayreon album, Actual Fantasy, sold below expectations, Arjen sought to deliver a top-quality recording, or else it might mean the end of his Ayreon project. first few songs gave me goosebumps, but it takes WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY too long to actually get going. Half of CD1 is filler.

The more I listen to this album the more I like it. No weak songs in it, wonderful instrumental work, good lyrics(some a bit cheesy, yes, but good nonetheless) and a superb election of singers. My favourite Ayreon album with The Universal Migrator, and an essential of the genre I would dare to say.

It came out ten years ago so I guess I can start calling it a classic. I like all Ayreon albums, but this one as a whole gives the best listening experience. It's the only one with virtually no weak points. Rock-solid. Don't be uncool, dude, it really is an amazing flight through space.

@bartjanssen : it's part of an enhanced section (playable in computers) in the special edition reissue, released in 2004. And it is worth it, I may add! ;)
