Sat 21 Nov – Beauty & the Beast Festival Tour


Nun...der Weg von Dresden in den Hellraiser in Leipzig hat sich wie immer gelohnt =)
Der Einlass begann wie immer verspätet, aber diesmal musste man nicht in einer Meute von hunderten in der Kälte stehen und warten bis der Ticketknipser fertig wird.

Überraschender Weise war die Anzahl an Gästen doch recht überschaulich.
Das sollte unsereins aber nicht daran hindern, Ordentlich Spaß zu haben

Stream of Passion waren an der Reihe.
Auf die hatte ich mich am meisten gefreut und meine Erwartungen wurden auch zu totalster Zufriedenheit erfüllt.
Ein wunderbar abgemischter, sehr gut differenzierbarer Sound, eine wunderschöne Stimme (trotz offensichtlicher Erkältung der Sängerin) und eine Auswahl der schönsten Lieder die ihr aktuelles Album zu bieten hat.
Mit dabei waren The Art of Loss, In the End, Street Spirit (Radiohead-Cover), Out in the Real World and This Endless Night.

Es folgten Elis.
Ich hatte schon länger nichts mehr von der Band gehört, da sie ja scheinbar sehr mit der Fertigstellung des am 27.11. erscheinenden Albums beschäftigt waren.
Umso mehr freut es mich zu sehen, dass sie mit Sandra Schleret an ihrer Seite wirklich ins schwarze getroffen haben. Leider hatte ich nie die Ehre sie mit Sabine live zu sehen, aber die Show am Samstag war einfach absolut genial. Sie singt die alten Stücke total gut und sie passt einfach wunderbar dazu. Ich freute mich besonders auf Der Letzte Tag da das immernoch mein Lieblingstitel der Band ist. Aber auch die Stücke von Catharsis , die sie gespielt haben, lassen großartiges erahnen.
Man darf gespannt sein.

Sirenia waren die nächsten.
Ich dachte am Anfang: oh...etwas lahm...und auch nicht so besonders abgemischt.
Und Ailyn hat auch mal ne Fleppe gezogen...da hätte auch kiloweise Botox nichts geholfen. Aber nach dem ersten Lied hat man dann gemerkt dass das wohl daran gelegen haben mag, dass irgendwas mit ihrem In-Ear nicht stimmte.
Denn dann gings richtig gut ab. Und sie warn die erste Band die es geschafft haben, dass mal ein wenig Leute ge-headbangt haben ...
Es war trotzdem eine Ehre, Morten Velands Kreationen endlich einmal Live hören zu können. Gerne wieder...mal sehen was die kommende Festival-Saison so bringt.

Atrocity konnte ich bisher nicht so wirklich gut leiden.
Ich steh nicht so auf Cover-Bands...auch wenn sie es sehr persönlich gestalten, wie es Atrocity nun mal tun.
Aber ich muss zugeben: Live gehen sie schon sehr ab, was sicherlich auch an der Austrahlung von Frontman Alex Krull liegen mag. Und als dann noch ein Duett mit Sandra Schleret kam, waren alle Zweifel beseitigt.
Ich werd mir deshalb zwar jetzt nicht gleich alle CDs von Atrocity kaufen, aber man weiß ja nie :).

Und Last but not Least die Headliner Leave's Eyes:
Ich hatte gehofft, dass der Umbau nicht so lange dauern würde, da es ja schließlich die selben Musiker sind, aber das war wohl wunschdenken.
Belohnt wurden die wartenden Zuschauer mit einem sehr Bombastischen Intro, das sofort in den Titeltrack des aktuellen Albums Njord überging. Es folgte My Destiny Farewell Proud Men und noch eine Auswahl an alten und neuen Liedern, darunter auch das immerwieder gern gehörte Norwegian Lovesong.
Insgesamt kam mir aber die SPielzeit von Leaves Eyes recht kurz vor und nach einer Zugabe war auch schon Schluss. Aber Hey...man soll ja aufhören wenn es am schönsten ist.
Ich freue mich darauf, sie beim Metalfest 2010 in Dessau wieder zu sehen (vllt wieder in der ersten Reihe) :)

So., 15. Nov. – Beauty & the Beast Festival Tour

Moderne Lokation, bei der man aber nicht den Fehler machen darf den Parkplatzschildern mit der Aufschrifft Rockhal zu folgen - dort waren keine 10 Parkplätze verfügbar ... etwas wenig für eine Halle, die in der Main Hall, Platz für 6500 Besucher und im Club nochmal Platz für 1200 Besucher bietet ... später haben wir dann erfahren, dass es am Anfang des Geländes auch ein Parkhaus gibt - ist nur etwas weiter weg ...

zu den Bands:

Elis
Ordentliches Set und es hat gefreut, dass man sie nach der Tour mit ASP endlich mal wieder auf der Bühne sehen konnte - Hätte etwas besser abgemischt sein können - Die Gesangsstimme ging so leider etwas im Gitarrengewitter unter ...

Stream of Passion
Wer Within Temptation mag wird hier sicherlich auch glücklich; meins war 's nicht ...

Atrocity
Wie kommt man eigentlich als Band, die seit über zwanzig Jahren im Geschäft ist, auf die Idee ausschließlich schlechte Coverversionen von Musik aus den 80er live darzubieten. Dabei hätte ich mich mal wieder über Stücke wie z.B. Willenskraft gefreut - absolut unerfreulicher Auftritt.

Sirenia
Highlight des Abends, auch wenn die (schon wieder) neue Sängerin ruhig etwas stimmgewaltiger hätte sein können. Insgesamt blieb aber der angenehme Eindruck, dass man auch Femal Voices Metal bringen kann bei dem man keine Angst um seine Zahnplomben haben muss - Danke, dass es noch Metaler gibt, die ihre Sängerin nicht zwingen in Tonlagen zu agieren, die deren Tonumfang bei weitem übersteigen ...

Leaves' Eyes
Leider war die Frontfrau nicht ganz bei Stimme - meine Hochachtung, dass sie das trotzdem durchgezogen hat - vom Herrn Krull sollte sie sich in dieser Formation aber vielleicht verabschieden, der wirkte die ganze Zeit etwas deplaziert und kam, mir zumindest, mit Null Ausstrahlung rüber ...


Insgesamt aber eine schöne Veranstaltung, die größtenteils doch positiv überraschte - schade dass lediglich ca. 200-250 Leute den Weg dahin gefunden haben.

Ach ja, kostenlos gabs noch die Erkenntnis, dass, wenn man Bilder machen will, man unbedingt darauf achten sollte, geladene Akkus mitzunehmen ...

Death Metal Radio
