Rok się powoli kończy, nic już ważnego nie wychodzi, czas na rozliczenia;)

FANFARY!!!

1. Fuck Buttons – Street Horrrsing - rok temu hipnotyzował burial, teraz andrew hung i ben power oczarowali mnie i zamotali. Ten album wierci dziurę w głowie, trze papierem ściernym myśli i zostaje na długo po przesłuchaniu. Mógłby być ścieżką dźwiękową do ‘psychozy’. Przedziwne dźwięki, wokal, który wtapia się i komponuje jak jeszcze jeden odgłos nie z tych światów. Utwory i cały album rozkręcają się powoli, z czasem narastając wybuchają z niesłychaną intensywnością i agresja. Obłąkanie. Majstersztyk, bez dwóch zdań płyta roku!

2. The Cure – 4:13 Dream – tu emocje wzięły gore, pierwsza ich płyta, na których premierę załapałem się ‘świadomie’, 3 lata oczekiwania, podgrzewanego nowymi njusami, nowymi pomysłami, zapowiedziami. Tradycyjne odkładana data premiery. Wreszcie trasa i dwa magiczne koncerty w pl, nowe piosenki i jeszcze więcej nowych piosenek, single z nierównymi bsajdami. No i płyta, z dziecięcą okładką, a płyta? Przepiękna (UTS), melodyjna (TOO, RW, HG i TPB), z kilkoma ciekawymi, acz krótkimi smaczkami (Freakshow i Sirensong), dezintegrująca (Switch),wreszcie tez naiwna (THANWY), rozkrzyczana (Scream) i napakowana na koniec dynamitem (IO, którego robocza nazwa bardziej mi pasowała).,. Kto chce marudzić niech marudzi, dla mnie z każdym kolejnym przesłuchaniem pnie się coraz wyżej w hierarchii i póki co nie mam jej dość.

3-11 (losowo):

Cult of Luna – Eternal Kingdom– po beyondowskim walcu, mglistym salvation i epickim sath, kompozycje stały się duszne i zimne, na co wpływ miała na pewno historia stojąca za tym koncept albumem, utwory są długie i rozbudowane, poprzeszkadzane czasem świetnymi interludiami, wszystko ładnie się łączy, a całość kończy majestatyczne following betulas, po którym nigdy nie mam przez dłuższy czas ochoty słuchać następnej jakiejkolwiek płyty. Swoja moc udowodnili na koncercie, końcówka ghost trail wypadła buldożersko.

Klaus Schulze & Lisa Gerrard – Farscape – czas na trochę ciszy, czas na misterium. Niezwykle połączenie dwóch osobowości, z którego powstała kosmiczna płyta, która ma ponad 2,5h zawarte w zaledwie 7 utworach, choć równie dobrze mógłby być to jeden. Klaus tworzy w niej przestrzeń, która lisa wypełnia i maluje gwiazdami, słońcami, planetami, kometami…płyta, która mogłaby trwać bez końca, partie lisy nagrane ponoć za jednym podejściem, klasa sama w sobie, arcyalbum?

Crystal Castles – Crystal Castles – to ci niespodzianka, piszczą, skrzypią, wrzeszczą w amoku (jakieś słowa?) fałszują. Niektóre utwory to prawdziwa burza (alice practice).Stosują miliony efektów, a prymitywne dźwięki rodem z atari tworzą niesamowitą atmosferę. Przy okazji sam trent ‘jestem bogiem’ reznor zaprosił ich na wspólną trasę, o czymś to świadczy, zresztą bija oni na głowę jego tegoroczne dokonania. Trochę podobieństw do royksopp, trochę tu Gorillaz, A! Jeśli masz często migreny, odpuść sobie ta płytę;-)

Disfear – Live The Storm – mocny i celny kop prosto w twarz, plyta-petarda, ale jak mogło być inaczej jak palce maczali zarówno tompa jak i uffe? d-beatowa liga mistrzów

Hail of Bullets -…Of Frost And War – kolejna supergrupa z superpłytą, dowodzony przez martina von drunena niszczycielski czołg, nie zostawia jeńców na swojej drodze. Płyta trąci o II wojnie światowej, głównie o tym jak to było na froncie wchodnim, operacji Barbarossa.Mróz i wojna. Death metalowa uczta i lekcja historii zarazem.

Soulfly – Conquer - max w tym roku był wyjątkowo płodny, najpierw wydal elektryzującą od początku pojawienia się o niej informacji płytę z bratem igorem – inflikted projektu cavalera conspiracy, która jest jednak średnio udana. Potem pojawiła się wiadomość o nowym soulfly, poprzedni ciężki i thrashowy, acz dość mocno ‘przepitolony; dark ages, jak i krotki odstęp od CC, napawał mnie obawa, ze będzie to album na prędce i na sile sklecony.
Przesłuchując po raz pierwszy, wszystko zostało rozwiane. Conquer to album, na którym nie ma słabych numerów i po prophecy wyrasta na drugi najlepszy w ich dorobku. Soczysty i mięsisty soulfly, taki, jaki lubię. Max tym razem nie zawiódł;-) smacznym kaskiem jest limitowane wydanie płyty z koncertem z warszawskiej stodoły, milo sobie popatrzeć

God Is an Astronaut – God Is An Astronaut – po zawodzie, jakim była poprzednia płyta (choć chciałbym żeby inne zespoły ‘tak’ mnie zawodziły) z nutka nerwacji czekałem na nowe dzieło irlandczyków. Singiel pojawił się dość dawno, pozwalał być dobrej myśli. A po tym jak cala płyta ‘ukazała się’ w necie z cala pewnością mogę stwierdzić ze wrócili na należyte im miejsce. Ma kosmiczny klimat, są plumkania, ale i mocniejsze momenty, dwa bardzo wyciszone utwory no i ciaaaary!

Bohren & der Club of Gore – dolores – absorbująca płyta, rozleniwiająca, słuchając jej zamykasz oczy i odpływasz, a ona powolutku się sączy. Jest ‘weselsza’ niż poprzednie ich twory, bardziej melodyjna i przystępna. Choć do poziomu sunset mission czy black earth brakuje, brakuje. Jedna z tych wyczekiwanych i tych, które nie zawiodły, oklaski dla panów!

Portishead – Third - królowa triphopu wróciła w iście królewskim stylu, tu nawet nie ma co pisać, trzeba tego posłuchać i oddawać im należną cześć.

12-20 (losowo):

In Mourning – Shrouded Divine – prawie noworoczny album, patrząc z perspektywy tej listy, dość już ‘stary’;-) z grubsza muzyka zawarta na nim, to klimatyczny metal, nowa, lepsza wersja opetha jakby. W związku z tym ze watershed i gr wyszły średnio, IM ładnie wypełnili ta lukę. Jest siarczysty growl, zwolnienia, czysty śpiew, czasem istna kanonada dźwięków, dająca smakowite i świeżę danie.

Intronaut – Prehistoricisms - na początku była nieważna epka (null), potem wciągająca pustka (void), następnie średnio udany pretendent (challenger), aż wreszcie zrodził się prehistoricisms. Najlepszy album w ich dorobku, zróżnicowany, oryginalny i połamany, zakończony wybitnym ‘reptilian brain’ Na tej płycie jest wszystko, ewoluowali w bardzo dobrym kierunku

Sigur Ros – med sud bla bla bla (nigdy się nie nauczę tego tytulu) - nisko, ale co zrobić. Po wiosennym takku, powinna to być letnia płyta, golasy na okładce świadczą o tym najdobitniej. świetny i innowacyjny pierwszy singiel, do tego inni…, med…, vid spilum i romantyczna ara batur, to jednak trochę za mało jak na moje oczekiwania. Reszta wolnych i nudnych kawałków najczęściej jest przewijana, szkoda w sumie. Na szczęście świetny koncert trochę odkupił ich wpadkę z albumem=)

Motorhead – Motorizer - ten album jest bombowy, wybuchowy, rokenrolowy, słucha się go z przytupem i ucieszonym ryjem, chwała im i niech żyją wiecznie!

Scars on Broadway – Scars On Broadway – soad się rozpadł, powstał nudny serj solo, tylko kapelusz ma spoko. Natomiast daron nagrał kawał porządnego gitarowego grania, które sprawiło mi nie lada radość, krotka, acz treściwa płyta, oby tak dalej.

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band– 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons -
4 długie utwory, glosy jak z psychiatryka, melodie? Istna apokalipsa.

Nine Inch Nails – The Slip – wysypało trentem w tym roku, najpierw duszki, potem the slip, a koncertu w pl kurwa dalej nie ma!, bzzrrrrwrr. Pierwsze 6 utworów typowo ninowe, oparte na wpadających od razu w ucho motywach perkusji, dalej słońce zachodzi i zasypiam, klimaty ghostowe. Delikatnie pobudzenia serwuje dopiero ‘the 4 of us are dying’, po nim mogłoby już nic nie być, ale jeszcze wcisnęli bezpłciowe demon seed. Średnia płyta bardzo.

Nine Inch Nails – Ghosts – geniusz, czy płyta nagrana na kolanie w hotelu? Pełnowartościowy twór, czy podsmiechujka wysłana przez trenta, by sprawdzić jak oddani są fani? Sprawa podobna do ‘inland empire’ lyncha, ciężko odpowiedzieć.

Disturbed – Indestructible - z sentymentu ściągnąłem, po poprzedniej pieruńsko nudnej, nie spodziewałem się niczego, a tu proszę niespodzianeczka! Solidny album ku mej uciesze i wspomnieniu szczenięcych lat;-)

???
Tiamat– Amanethes - nie wiem jak oceniać ta płytę za cholerę. Dylemat mam jak nigdy. Lubię tiamat, ubóstwiam ADKOS i SS, lubię W, C i TAS, a tej płyty nie mogę ugryźć, nie mogę jej rozłupać, nie mogę obrać ze skórki, nawet wydrylować się jej nie da…niby ok., mix a la tiamat w sosie tiamatowym posypany tiamatem, który za pierwszym razem smakuje wybornie, by znowu przy następnej okazji powodować nudności. Ciężko mi to sklasyfikować;-)

Najlepsze polskie płyty – jak wiadomo kategoria będzie dość uboga, niewiele ważkiego w tym roku wyszło, jednak czołówka jest mocna:

Blindead – autoscopia:murder in phases – bezapelacyjnie polska płyta roku, poprzedzona długim oczekiwaniem i apetycznymi koncertami (w sumie trzema przeze mnie widzianymi) na którym materiał prezentował się rewelacyjnie. Miażdżył. Buchał energia, powodował ciarrrry. Na płycie tej miazgi jest jednak imho trochę mniej, więcej za to mglistego klimatu. Wszystko na swoim miejscu, bez zbędnego dźwięku czy słowa. Poprzednia była bardzo dobra, ta jest świetna, czekam już, co nam wysmażą na następnej.

Homo Twist– Matematyk – ta z kolei nie była długo wyczekiwana, informacja ze wychodzi pojawiła się nagle bodajże z miesiąc wcześniej. Maleńczuk jeszcze mnie nie zawiódł dotychczas, nie inaczej na tej płycie. Po powrocie Olaffa wyszedł dużo bardziej ‘piosenkowy’ materiał niż poprzedni. Tekstowo i muzycznie wyśmienicie;]

Jacaszek – Treny – niespodziewana płyta, nie styknąłem się do tej pory z jego twórczością, ta jest za to mega smutna. Nastrój trenowej melancholii oddany wiernie, do tego leniwie ciągnące się kompozycje i płyta na jesienne wieczory jak ulał;-)

Peter Andersson, duizendpoot in gitzwarte muziek, kwam afgelopen weekend voor twee concerten naar Nederland. Vrijdagavond was het de beurt aan Enschede, zaterdag mocht hij in het gezelschap van Projekt Transcedent en Staplerfahrer zijn ding in het Parkhof in Alkmaar doen. Opvallend; de prijs in Atak is een euro hoger, terwijl je daar dus alleen Andersson aan het werk ziet. De opkomst is er naar: bij binnenkomst ben ik betalende bezoeker nummer tien, tegen de start van de set zitten we op niet meer dan 20. Ook een dag later blijkt de opkomst niet veel beter. Jammer, want Peter Andersson heeft met zijn meest bekende project raison d'être allang bewezen een aangename bijdrage te kunnen leveren binnen het genre. Dat doet hij behalve met raison d'être ook met Atomine Elektrine, Necrophorus, 'gewoon' Peter Andersson, Grismannen, Panzar, D:Combe en Svasti-ayanam. Ongetwijfeld vergeet ik er dan een, maar het geeft aan dat de man niet van stilzitten houdt.

Dat stilzitten houdt hij echter aan het begin van de avond vrij lang vol. Atak noemde 21:30 als aanvangstijd, maar aangezien er toen pas tien man binnen was, besloot Andersson nog maar een biertje of drie te wachten. Langzaam loopt dan wat publiek binnen, ook van de andere kant van de zo dichtbij gelegen grens, en tegen kwart over tien start de man met het opnemen van de eerste loops. Er staat een laptop, maar die is meegenomen om de live opgenomen geluiden door elkaar te mixen. In eerste instantie met een spatel en wat belletjes, later komt daar nog een strijkstok bij te pas, natuurlijk vergezeld van de nodige lage tonen die vooral later in de set hard aangezet worden. Andersson neemt hiervoor aardig de tijd, laat zich niet opjutten, en bewijst daarmee dat dit muziek is die je moet laten inwerken. Sfeervolle, rustige klanken worden afgewisseld met evenzo sfeervolle, maar dan eerder harde klanken. De man koos voor relatief weinig werk met de zo mooie Gregoriaanse vocalen, wat ik persoonlijk erg jammer vind. Desalniettemin doet raison d'être eigenlijk precies wat je naar aanleiding van de diverse CD's zou verwachten.

De visuele ondersteuning is zoals zo vaak bij cold meat industry-acts een videoscherm als voornaamste blikvanger. Met een laptop als voornaamste instrument - dit keer dus aangevuld met wat meer handzame instrumenten - is het geen show waar de spetters vanaf vliegen, maar wel een waar een sfeervolle ambiance wordt neergezet en dat is precies het idee van dit soort muziek. Rest mij te melden dat de teleurstellende opkomst mij enorm tegenvalt. Dat er 22 volwassen kerels zo nodig achter een bal aan moeten rennen, okay, maar dat was vrijdag zeker niet het geval. Waar was iedereen?

100,000 has come and gone. 111,111 soon approaches, however, this has little relevance to anything I'm going to be talking about, I just like numbers with some sort of pattern.

Anyway, now that school related things are finally calming down for a short period of time, and I need something to use with my immense powers of procrastination. Rather than doing my software major, I'm going to write a list of a few noteworthy artists, albums and possibly - though not probably - songs, and perhaps insert a couple of my over-shadowing and obnoxious views into it as well.

Best Albums to Genre:

Hardstyle: Generation Hardstyle Volume 1 - Probably the most notable of 'oldschool' hardstyle albums, as it contains - to me - the classics of hardstyle. Reverse basslines-a-plenty.
Hardcore: Godspeed 2005 - Contains a number of pretty nifty tracks. Combination of hardstyle and hardcore.
Chillout: Nova Natura 2 - An amazing blend of pure awesome. Easily the best chillout album I've ever heard.
Big Beat: Vegas - An oldy but a goody. All of Crystal Method's best stuff shoved into one album.
Dance: Ministry of Sound - Mashed II - Madloads of tracks that are becoming popular now, 2 years after it's release.

Moe Side Note: I hate it when people tell me to download a song they just found out about it, but I found it two years ago. This happens with most dance songs.

Drum & Bass: Hold Your Colour - The best drum and bass? Aussie, apparently.
Easy Listening: Classics - According to iTunes, the album that contains the world famous 'Symphonies of Steel', is easy listening. Hunt down this track, and find out how easy it is to listen to.
Electronic: Music Has the Right to Children - A very broad genre, but iTunes classifies this brilliant album as Electronic, so it takes the cake.
Game Soundtrack: Halo 2 OST - The official Halo 2 soundtrack. Classy classical with nice drum elements.
Hip-Hop: Left Foot, Right Foot - Aussie hip-hop. Awesome. I hate rap, but I love this.
IDM: Cloud Control - Madness IDM. Actually good IDM, unlike Aphex Twin.
Trance: Sensation White 2005 - Sensation White before it turned gay and electro.
