Anhédonie gets better with every listen. Just ripping my fucking guts out. I wish there were more music in the funeral doom genre as good as this. But a lot of funeral doom sucks balls. I won't mention any names.

I enjoy Ahab as well as Ataraxie. Ahab is not posing in any way. I also enjoy Swallow the Sun but they arent funeral doom at all. They are more of just melodic doom.

I really dig funeral doom bands like Graves at Sea, Buried at Sea, and Asunder (my personal favorite), and I'm now getting into Mournful Congregation as well. I love the slow stuff... slow and heavy as possible. That said, would ye fans of Ataraxie recommend them to me?

Maybe some people don't like Ahab because two of their members are in a folk metal band with a female vocalist...maybe it's because they recorded an album based on Herman Melville's Moby Dick, like a popular American metal band did and they think they copied them?...who knows? Personally I like "Call of the Wretched Sea" and don't think they're "posers" at all...Maybe all this belongs in Ahab's shoutbox instead? lol

Maybe Ahab are nothing spectacular but they are not crap.At least if they weren't so overrated you wouldn't call them crap.They gained popularity due to the catchyness and accessibility of their music , another thing that have helped them is a good promotion.And I called them funeral doom for a power metal fan and I think my opinion is valid enough for that.

Chorale (ex misshapensteed) , you are the only poser here. And Ahab aren't posers at least because in one of the interviews they said that it was quite obvious they weren't the best band in the genre.
