oder: The Last Shadow Puppets lassen grüssen

Humbug war eines der Alben (wenn nicht sogar DAS Album), auf das ich mich dieses Jahr am meisten gefreut haben. Nach den zwei grossartigen ersten Alben der arktischen Affen und Alex Turners sehrsehrsehr gelungenem Intermezzo mit The Last Shadow Puppets war ich überzeugt, dass ich nach den leisen Enttäuschungen, die mir Franz Ferdinand, Mando Diao und Maxïmo Park "beschert" haben, auf die oben angesprochenen Klettertiere vertrauen kann. Zurecht?

Ich fand The Age of the Understatement von Turners Nebenprojekt wie gesagt sehr gut, freute mich aber beim neuen Album der Arctic Monkeys auf ihren klassischen Sound, dezent aggressiv und, wenn auch technisch perfekt, nicht abgehoben. Alex' Stimme hatte dabei stets etwas "amateurhaftes", was hier aber nur positiv gemeint ist. Er war ein singender Gitarrist. Kein gitarrespielender Sänger. Bei den Last Shadow Puppets wurde er zu ebendiesem girattespielenden Sänger (was er in einem Interview sogar selbst bestätigte). …
