  • Breaking Dawn Playlist

    Ago 8 2008, 7h21 por rose-ncrantz

So I was reading Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, because I am a silly girl and I get a huge kick out of it, and I realized that I had a lot of songs that went along with it that had magically come up on shuffle while I was racing my way through it. So here it is: my Breaking Dawn playlist:

    1) Vampire by Antsy Pants
This one's pretty self-explanatory. And cute. Did I mention that it's adorable?
    "I am a vampire, I am a vampire,
I am a vampire, I have lost my fangs.
So I'm sad and I feel lonely
So I cry and I'm very angry
    And I eat some garlic
So I'm no more satanic yeah yeah"

    2) Furr by Blitzen Trapper
It's about shapeshifting into a wolf! Nuff said. Towards the end of the song he finds a girl and settles down and becomes human again. Just like in the books.
"Yeah, when I was only seventeen
I could hear the angels whispering
So I drove into the woods
    And wandered aimlessly about
Until I heard my mother shouting through the fog
It turned out to be the howling of a dog
Or a wolf, to be exact
The sound sent shivers down my back
But I was drawn into the pack and before long
They allowed me to join in and sing their song
So from the cliffs and highest hills
Yeah, we would gladly get our fill
Howling endlessly and shrilly at the dawn
And I lost the taste for judging right from wrong
For my flesh had turned to fur
Yeah, and my thoughts they surely were
Turned to instinct and obedience to God"

    3) TocarEvil Urges by My Morning Jacket
Having to do with Edward's trepidations about what he is, and what his condition might do to Bella's soul. My Morning Jacket is siding with Bella on this one.
"Evil urges baby; they're now part of the human way
It ain't evil baby, if ya ain't hurting anybody "

    4) Jack the Ripper by Colin Meloy (Morrissey cover)
The viewpoint of a vampire must be very similar to that of a serial killer -- for example, that of Jack The Ripper in this Morrissey song. I listen to the Colin Meloy cover, so that's the one I've put up.
    "Crash into my arms
    I want you
    You don't agree -
    But you don't refuse
    I know you
And no one knows a thing about my life
I can come and go as I please
And if I want to, I can stay
Oh, or if I want to, I can leave
    Nobody knows me"

    5) Wolf Like Me by TV on the Radio
OK... wolf innuendos. Pretty self-explanatory ...
    "Feeding on fever
    Down on all fours
    Show you what all the
    Howlin's for
    Hey hey my playmate
Let me lay waste to thee
    Burned down their hanging trees
It's hot here hot here hot here hot here"

    6) Apocalypse Song by St. Vincent
Probably doesn't mean anything like this at all, but I saw in these lyrics a little bit of Bella's desire to be turned into a vampire.
    "Wait:
I'll be swifter than the speed of light
Carbon my body a billion years of time
You wake with the stitches over both your eyes
And deny me my body and all earthly delights
    It's time
    You are light
I guess you are afraid of what everyone is made of
All your praying moments amount to just one breath
    Please keep your victory
    But give me little death"

This probably compounds my geekery into a whole nother dimension. Oh well. Yay Breaking Dawn!

  • Bi-Sensual Productions contracts The Boy Who Cannot Sing and Luas-R

    Mai 15 2008, 11h19

    Dear musiclovers,

We are very proud to tell you all some great news! We have contracted two young artists; The Boy Who Cannot Sing (alter ego of DJ Amy Moon) and Luas-R (also drummer in the band The Vicious and former Failure).

    The Boy Who Cannot Sing
A new project of DJ Amy Moon. In this project Remco is proving the fact that he cannot sing, but can write songs. Folky sounds whipping through your ears in the likes of Kimya Dawson/Adam Green (The Moldy Peaches/Antsy Pants) and many others. We'll be hearing quite a lot from this 24-year old musician from the Netherlands.

    Luas-R
This 18-year old Dutch girl is the drummer and founder of the band The Vicious (and former-band Failure). She has always played the drums and percussion in several bands and later on she started playing the guitar (for example in the band Ma Petite Fleur). Luas-R already co-operated with DJ Amy Moon on their remix of Back In Your Head (which will be featured on The Bi-Ology Of Being Bi-Sensual. Since she has written so many songs, that they cannot play them all with the band (The Vicious), she decided to start a solo project. Info about her band can be found at www.myspace.com/theviciousband
Luas-R's music contributes inspiration from a lot of different music styles. More info on her favourite music can be found at ThePerkins.

We are also very pleased to tell you we released a new EP last Saturday by the hand of DJ Amy Moon. It is called Stand Art and is available for free downloads exclusively at Last.fm.

Now, I only want you to spread the love and the word.

    Love, peace and harmony!

Have a nice day! Thanks for your attention.

    With best regards,
