• JGKFLTCEND with Jeremy and Thor Bloodbath Playlist: November 3, 2008

this was kind of a theme show, a loose theme anyways. the mood is the same pretty much throughout, very melancholy and somber, but it's a playlist about what love means, or can mean, or doesn't mean, and how love is a very personal feeling. if love even exists at all...
More than half of the bands are from my beloved state of Michigan so I guess the playlist is kind of a reflection on what long shitty winters will do to your heart, as well. not my intention but it works. my intention was to make a playlist that flowed seamlessly and I think I did that.

I like lots and lots of music and that's why I have a radio show. Well, half of a radio show. Thor Bloodbath and I split the show. I play tunes for the first half, he picks tunes for the second. Our system works well as it's like two shows for the price of nothing. Every week, in preparation for my show, I make a playlist from my personal music library in which every song is lovingly selected and tenderly sequenced to make your JGKFLTCEND listening experience as enjoyable as possible. In essence, each show is a mixtape, a journey, an experience, an adventure, a declaration, a statement of defiance towards the current consumerist musical climate, a salute to artists who care about their craft and don't see their music as a product, a middle finger salute to whoever deserves one (just because), a glimpse into the curator's psyche, an event of moderate proportions, an experiment in exceedingly excessive and exhaustively extensive hyperbole, an effective effort in extremely exuberant examples of alliteration!!!!!!(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Simply put, I play the songs I like to hear by artists many people haven't heard because I think they're worth sharing. Try to give the show a listen sometime, you might like what you hear. And if you don't you can always request one of your favorites.

HOURLY WEATHER! GREAT MUSIC! PSAs! NO COMMERCIALS! LOCAL MUSIC CALENDARS! MORE THAN 3 YEARS RADIO X EXPERIENCE! NO SWEARING MEANS CLEAN OL' FUN FOR ALL AGES! LIMITED MISTAKES! LIVE MUSICIANS! GIVEAWAYS! THE ASSUMED LONGEST AND DUMBEST SHOW NAME IN RADIO HISTORY (CLAIM UNVERIFIED)! CONSTANT REMINDERS OF THE RADIO X PHONE NUMBER AND SCREENNAME! DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE BY THE SIMPLE TUNE OF A DIAL! YOU PROBABLY WON'T BE LET DOWN!

Juicy Goat Knee Faucet Left Turn Correct English Navel Dawn with Jeremy and Thor Bloodbath is the proper name of the show. The not-so-secret-anymore is that the name has no inherent meaning and is nothing more than a random collection of words (words lucky enough to be immortalized in the annuls of college radio history, however. let's not be modest ;) Using contraceptives and one night stands as a metaphor, Thor and I believe the conception of the idea for the name was a mistake, but we kinda like it now. Plus, it's kinda catchy, ain't it?

I saw Shara Worden with Sufjan on Austin City Limit just a week ago. I've heard about My Brightest Diamond and thought it would be an interesting act to see while I'm in the area.
Annie Palmer was the 1st opening that I didn't know about. A local artist and decent. I was looking forward to pedestrian's performance since I liked their new album. Needless to say, their set was pretty good, especially the collab between the band and Worden on "overwhelmed".
This part is what confused me: Shara Worden aka My Brightest Diamond played with Pedestrian as opposed to whatever her recording band consisted of. i guess it's possible she teamed up with Pedestrian for this tour, but it's still weird.
Apart from her unappealing hairdo and the lame crowd, I enjoyed her sound. It's definately darker and heavier than I imaged, as I pictured her as a folk artist. Pedestrian definately added an edgier sound that's different from the recording--- I like.

    Freak out!
