    40 Questions

    1. How did you get into 31?

In my attempt to have something to add to idiotic conversations about music in my daily life with people I'm not particularly close to, I started turning on top-40 radio. PatD was less offensive than most things I heard on it and they are fun to work out to.

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22?

'Catch My Disease', probably. At least, that was his first solo song I ever heard. I can't remember the first Noise Addict song I ever heard.

    3. What's your favourite lyric by 41?

we’re keeping busy yeah we’re bleeding stones / with our machinations and our palindromes / anything but hear a voice that says we’re basically alone (from "i")

I know, it's simple, but I want to film a movie based entirely on how these words make me feel.

    4. What is your favourite album by 49?

    Costello Music. Duh.

    5. How many albums by 13 do you own?

Just one (We Were Here). Frankly, 'First Between 3rd & 4th' is so bloody hard to find that unless he comes out with something new, it'll probably be my only album of his.

    6. What is your favourite song by 50?

'Books and Letters' -- it's just so unbelievably catchy! These guys need to come out with a full-length album.

    7. Is there a song by 4 that makes you sad?

Hahahaha, no. Girl Talk does not make me sad in any way, shape or form.

    8. What is your least favourite song by 15?

I like most of their songs, but 'Song for Myra Goldberg' never really wowed me. Actually, I just didn't like 'Her Majesty' as much as their other albums.

    9. What is your favourite song by 5?

    Probably 'On the Radio'.

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy?

    'The Songs that We Sing'.

    11. What is your favourite album by 40?

    'FutureSex/LoveSounds'!

    12. What is your favourite song by 10?

Right now I'm sort of torn between '10 Degrees/To the North' and 'The Kinda Tea You Like to Cry In'.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving 33?

Most of my Missy memories are good because of the girl who introduced me to her. But maybe being sent a note which had "these arms will not be taught to need another 'cause we're the special two" scrawled on it.

    14. What is your favourite song by 37?

I adore 'London Still' but 'Ten Days' and 'Lighthouse' are a close second.

    15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy?

'Simple, Starving to be Safe' makes me strangely happy.

    16. How many times have you seen 24 live?

Never. I wish I'd seen her back in the day when I used to be really obsessed.

    17. What is the first song you heard by 23?

    'Thank You', most likely.

    18. What is your favourite album by 11?

    I still love 'Moon Safari'.

    19. Who is your favourite member of 1?

Oh, that's too hard. I adore Stuart Murdoch, but love Sarah's voice, Stevie's songwriting and still miss Isobel and Stuart David more than I can express. But, but, but, Mick plays the trumpet! It's just impossible.

    20. How many times have you seen 14 live?

Never yet, but I intend to.

    21. Do you have any good memories involving 45?

Not really. I mean, driving around in the middle of the night, but it's more of a neutral memory, not particularly a good one.

    22. What is your favourite song by 16?

Until a week or so ago, it was 'Canal Song (End of Sentence)' but now I think it's 'Minus 10'.

    23. What is the first song you heard by 47?

'Your Body Is A Wonderland' which is one of my least favourite songs by him.

    24. What is your favourite album by 3?

    'The Light Divides'. It's perfection.

    25. What is your favourite song by 18?

OH shit, that's hard. If I really had to choose, it'd probably be 'Mark Rothko Song'.

    26. What is the first song you heard by 38?

    'Fire Door'.

    27. What is your favourite lyric that 21 has sung?

It's only lies that I'm living / it's only tears that I'm crying / it's only you that I'm losing / guess I'm doing fine

    28. What is your favourite song by 2?

Currently, it's '9 Crimes' but that'll probably change by tonight.

    29. What is the first song you heard by 32?

    I have no idea.

    30. What is your favourite song by 8?

'The Only Living Boy in New York' among so many others. They've been my favourites since I was four or five. I can't choose.

    31. How many times have you seen 17 live?

    Never.

    32. Is there a song by 44 that makes you happy?

    Not really.

    33. What is your favourite album by 12?

When the Pawn... but I do love Tidal.

    34. What is the worst song by 29?

Maybe one of his covers. Angie is really awesome -- I can't say anything bad about him. Great live show and just such a sweet, smart man.

    35. What was the first song you heard by 34?

I think it was either 'Paper Flowers' or 'Slow Burn'.

    36. What is your favourite album by 42?

    Dry.

    37. How many times have you seen 39 live?

    Never, damn it.

    38. What is your favourite album by 36?

    I really adore Vegetal.

    39. What is the first song you heard by 28?

'A Samba In the Snowy Rain' which got me totally hooked and let me into my love affair with 'Sao Paolo'.

    40. What is your favourite album by 35?
'Like the Deserts Miss the Rain'.
