Amnesys's I Justified has one of the most intensely epic breakdowns in Hardcore. You have to hear the full track on the vinyl to understand this, not the shitty short version on Masters Of Hardcore: Raise Cain. There are good breaks in quite a few Hardcore songs that are built up very nicely, but this one certainly shines through the others for me. It never fails to instill that chill all the way down my spine.

Another break I really like in Hardcore is Nosferatu & Endymion Vs. The Viper's Project Hardcore (Anthem Mix) with MC Alee. The bassline on that one is very moving, it's quite a spectacular thing to hear (and FEEL) on a good stereo system.

Even though I'm not a big fan of his material anymore, Angerfist's Choices has a really inspiring break on it. One of my favorite artists also, Dj Mad Dog's Disorder and Last Motherfucker build up to something really intense. They have a spectacular melody to them that never fails to impress me. Tha Playah vs. DJ Mad Dog's Enter The Time Machine, DJ Mad Dog mix is on a whole other level of it's own...

As for my favorite artist, Hellsystem has numerous songs with breaks that can make you feel nothing but happy. There's something entirely infectious about what he can do to the mind... Take a look at Daylight with DJ D or Take Them if you don't believe me. Also look at DJ D's Step On Stage with Hellsystem. It is along the similar epic formula as Daylight.

Any opinions on other good breaks I might be missing? I know I'm just speaking of newer mainstream "anthematic" Hardcore here, but I've listened to that most through my growing Hardcore years. Maybe someone has some recommendations? Maybe you can remind me of something I've forgotten about at least... I know I had some pretty good Darkcore/Industrial Hardcore material that had some amazing breaks, but I can't think of any of it now. I'm sure there were at least a couple Negative A songs...

Again, all of these I listed should be considered the full vinyl/album versions of the tracks, not shortened compilation/mix versions of the tracks.

Hardcore techno, often referred to as just "hardcore", is a style of electronic music that originated in the early-to-mid-1990s in multiple locations including the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium and the UK. The style is typified by a fast tempo and the rhythmic use of distorted and atonal industrial-like beats and samples.

Production techniques
Hardcore techno is usually composed using music sequencers, and many earlier tracks were produced on home computers with module tracker software. Some examples of the software used are Fruity Loops Studio and Reason.The wide availability of computers, combined with the absence of financial remuneration, means that many hardcore techno musicians write for their own enjoyment and the pleasure of innovation.

Styles of hardcore
As Hardcore continues to grow each different type of hardcore (each subgenre) begins to attract a larger fan base and more support from producers. As new subgenres grow they can become extremely different than other subgenres that are also referred to as "Hardcore."

Hardcore has also spawned several subgenres and derivative styles including:

● New Beat - Unlike most of its hardcore brethren this music is generally slow. New Beat originated when a DJ accidentally played a record at 33 RPM (compared to the standard 45 RPM). This made the music sound harder and more sinister, essentially influencing electronic hardcore. Tracks range from 80 bpm to 120 bpm.
● Old-Skool - Also known as Breakbeat Hardcore, this retrospective term is usually reserved for tracks produced in the early 90's, a large period of growth for Hardcore. Lots of piano rolls, bouncy basslines and breakbeats and plenty of female vocals and classic "rave" sounds.
● Happy hardcore is a form of dance music typified by a very fast tempo (usually around 165-180 BPM), often coupled with male or female vocals, and sentimental lyrics. Popular in the UK, Australia and Spain, amongst other countries. Generally has a large cult following known as "Candy ravers".
● Makina - Fast electronic dance music from Spain, fairly similar to happy hardcore.
● UK hardcore - Modern form of happy hardcore, less childish feel with supersaw leads.
● Freeform hardcore - Hardcore with strong influence of trance, mainly instrumental.
● Hardcore Breaks - Written in the style of old-skool rave music or breakbeat hardcore using modern technology and production techniques.
● Gabber - Most popular in The Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Belgium, characterized by heavy bass drum sound, usually created with distortion, generally 150-220 bpm.
● Doomcore aka Darkcore - Down-Tempo, characterized by reverb on detuned semi-distorted kicks on eerie synth pads.
● Noisecore aka Industrial hardcore - Hardcore influenced by industrial music, characterized by harsh beats.
● Digital Hardcore - Hardcore Punk influenced Hardcore techno.
● Breakcore - Uses distorted, fragmented breakbeats and sampling to create a hectic effect.
● Speedcore - With tracks that can range from 250 bpm up to 15000 bpm, often featuring heavy distortion. Not to be confused with Thrashcore or Speed metal. Also named splittercore (when it's around 700 bpm) and extratone (when it's more than 1000 bpm).
● Terrorcore - refers to more extreme verison of 'regular gabber', with a highly aggressive themes, modern tracks using same bass drum sound as nu-style gabber.
● Frenchcore - influenced by old school gabber, has a bouncy feel created by the bassdrum that is influenced by 909 kick, but is made with synths.
● UK gabber - takes influence from number of styles (notabily breakcore) to produce a progessive high tempo style, with a unique reverb-like bass drum.

Often certain substyles of hardcore are classified by the city or country in which they are produced, such as the Frankfurt sound, the French sound, the Tokyo sound etc.
