Good things about this month: giant pork sandwiches, people being back in Windsor, music.

Bad things about this month: basically everything else.

I did some random catching up with 2008 recently and have been enjoying a few things that I missed, most notably Blitzen Trapper and Bishop Allen. Unfortunately their albums as a whole are pretty inconsistent (and even annoying at times), but damn these are some good singles. Although the new Muse album is pretty embarrassing overall, Uprising is a catchy and fun track in spite of its terribleness so I was compelled to include it. There's some electro-pop-ish stuff on here, a bit of hip hop, and the usual assortment of indie and/or rock. I enjoy the unintentional thematic progression of tracks 13-15, and the closing song which is taken from a live session shows a promising future for the Rural Alberta Advantage. Not that I had any doubt.

There was a lot of overflow this month so next month should also be good.

01. A.C. Newman - Prophets
Featured in the season finale of How I Met Your Mother, this song comes from Newmans' third solo album. (Newman is also a member of the New Pornographers.) All of his solo work is absolutely wonderful, as is his work with the New Pornographers. I HIGHLY recommend you check out his albums in their entireties.

02. Abdominal featuring Notes To Self - T. Ode
An ode to the city of Toronto! It features an introduction by David Miller, Mayor of Toronto, which is pretty hilarious. Abdominal is of the "positive rap" persuasion, opting for for feel-good rhymes over aggressive banalities.

03. Adele - Daydreams
Another female, British, soul-singer. A bit more pop-y than similar artists, but still quite enjoyable. Not ground-breaking, but good.

04. Albert Hammond Jr. - 101
A song from the first solo album of the Stroke's rhythm guitarist. Generally, I prefer this album to his second solo release. Hammond is one of the primary song-writers for The Strokes, and his solo work has the same cohesiveness.

05. Amos Lee - Skipping Stone
Taken from the Blueberry Nights OST. Very mellow and catchy. A very solid singer-songwriter in an age of a lot of crappy singer-songwriters.

06. Amy Millan - He Brings Out The Whiskey In Me
Pretty generic pop-country. Amy Millan also preforms as the lead singer for Stars, though her solo work is quite different. An enjoyable song, but not an overly-exciting album.

07. Apostle of Hustle - My Sword Hand's Anger
The creation of Andrew Whiteman, one of the members of Broken Social Scene. A very catchy song with a great sense of movement.

08. Arcade Fire - Keep The Car Running
Definitely an older song. I just really like it. It's got a very uplifting vibe.

Vocally disjointed pop music. I don't know exactly why I like it, but I do. It's just catchy.

The poppiest pop that ever popped a pop. And I like it. A lot. Gotta love Swedish bands!
Sounds Like: If Bowling for Soup and The Darkness had a non-comedic baby-band, this would be it.

11. The Autumn Defense - Estate Remains
A side project of John Stirratt, member of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo. A mellow, melodious tune, heavy on the strings.

If you just take one song away from this, please take A.C. Newman's "Prophets". He is, by far, my favorite artist out of all of these. "Get Guilty" and "The Slow Wonder" are both fantastic, very cohesive albums.
