  • My 1996

    Set 20 2009, 9h55 por syknyk

Biggest playlist so far, i think that has something to do with my charts increasing from 5 to 10 tracks each week. Still missing loads of artists and whole genres in some cases (this was during my happy hardcore phase and it seems there is no hh on Spotify from this era).

A lot of drum n bass missing too, so it does seem that all i was listening to was g funk, euro dance & cheese.

    Artists include;
    Coolio
    Robert Miles
    Alex Reece
    Spice Girls
    Faithless
    Scooter
    Peter Andre (huh!)
    and many more

    1. Which song do you prefer, #1 or #40?
Definitely #40. I fucking love it.

    2. Have you ever listened to #12 continuously on repeat?
    Nope.

    3. What album is #26 from?
Well the one I've got is off Melting Pot

    4. What do you think about the artist who did #15?
I think they're awesome. I love their really early stuff when they were Tyrannosaurus Rex too.

    5. Is #19 one of your favorite songs?
Not really...he's done much better stuff.

    6. Who does #38 remind you of?
Hanging the washing out, for some reason.

    7. Does #20 have better lyrics or music?
Hmm...that's a toughie, but I'll say the music.

    8. Do any of your friends like #3?
Erm...my brother does, and I think my boyfriend quite likes him too. And my flatmate likes the odd song.

    9. Is #33 from a movie soundtrack?
    Not that I know of...

    10. Is #18 overplayed on the radio?.
It was quite overplayed when it came out. Not half as much as TocarNever Ever though.

    11. What does #21 remind you of?
It makes me think of a couple of months ago when I sat up waiting for the debut of the video on Channel 4. And just the video in general...it's one of the best videos I've seen in years.

    12. Which song do you prefer, #5 or #22?
That is quite tough but I think I'll have to go with #22.

    13. What album is #17 from?
    Led Zeppelin

    14. When did you first hear #39?
Erm...I'm not sure. Probably when I saw a Led Zeppelin tribute band for the first time, and then my boyfriend gave me a load of tapes of stuff of theirs. I had Remasters on all summer about 4 years ago...haha.

    16. What genre is #8?
    Blues. It's a Leadbellysong.

    17. Do any of your friends like #14?
Well, my boyfriend does...and my mate Lauren does quite a bit I think but I've gottawork on that one some more. =P

    18. What color does #4 remind you of?
What an odd question...I guess like squidgy purple or something.

    19. Have you ever blasted #11 on your stereo?
    Nah.

    20. What genre is #37?
Hmm...bit of a tough one because it's just drums basically. I guess I'll go with hard rock

    21. Can you play #13 on any instrument?
    Nope.

    22. What is your favorite line from #30?
I don't really know...the lyrics aren't exactly that song's strong point because they're just generic blues lyrics.

    23. What is your favorite lyric from #23?
Well, he actually says "shamone" in the lyrics and you can't beat that, right!

    24. Would you recommend #24 to your friends?
I've been recommending it to 'em since I was about 14.

    25. Is #2 a good song to dance to?
    Erm...not particularly.

    26. Do you ever hear #16 on the radio?
    Well, I never have.

    27. Is #32 more of a “nighttime” or “daytime” song?
    Personally I'd say a night-time song.

    28. Does #36 have any special meaning to you?
Erm...it just reminds me of last summer. Which was the best summer ever. So I guess, yeah.

    29. Do any of your friends like #31?
Lots and lots of my online friends do. I don't think any of my real-life friends do. Oh actually I think my stepdad might be quite into them.

    30. Is #25 a fast or slow song?
    It's sorta mid-tempo. FOOL!

    31. Is #35 a happy or sad song?
    Quite sad, I suppose.

    32. What is one of your favorite lyrics from #9?
"I want to dig me soul brothers and sisters
I want you to hold me tight cause I'm a dynamite"

    33. Is #34 better to listen to alone or with friends?
    Alone.

    34. When did you first hear #27?
Oh...years and years ago. I can remember dancing around to it in my room when I was about 10 or 11 or something, pretending I was in Oasis. Haha.

    35. Name 3 other songs by the artist who did #29?
    TocarKiller Queen
    TocarBohemian Rhapsody
    Bicycle Race

    36. Do you know all the words to #6?
    Nope.

    37. Does #28 have better lyrics or music?
Haha...they're both good but I always think the music is more important. Even though lyrics can obviously be awesome. But, y'know...if you're gonna place more importance on the lyrics you might as well just read a poem.

    38. What album is #10 from?
    I don't know...I haven't hardly got any Prodigy stuff...that's a live version that's a b-side (to Breathe I think?

  • Track-Tagged Drum n Bass Station

    Set 22 2005, 20h19 por IanAR

My track-tagged Drum n Bass station has just come on-stream. To give an idea of what to expect, from it, the first ten track played were:

    TocarReturn of Forever
    TocarChained on Two Sides
    Da Tunnel
    TocarResolution (Photek remix)
    TocarStalker (Danny C Remix)
    TocarHang On
    TocarJet Set (Invaders Remix)
    Pulp Fiction
    TocarOut of the Game
    TocarBlazin'

The distinction between Drum n Bass and Jungle, or wether there is any, is debated. I see them, respectively, as the 'jazzy' and 'full-on' ends of the same spectrum.

The tracks played, above, were from the initially featured artists: Alex Reece, Andrea Parker, CJ Bolland, DJ Shadow, Dom & Roland, E-Z Rollers, Ed Rush & Optical, Goldie, High Contrast, Photek, Red Snapper, Roni Size, Tali, Total Science & Usual Suspects & Loxy

Suggestions for more streamable tracks to add (send recommendations) and constructive criticism of what's included (post a comment), are welcomed.

For more track-tagged stations, see the Pure Track-Taggers group and, if you've some of your own, please join.
