But Alesana is not only a "melodramatic cry for attention". They create art, and they are way more better than any other band in the -core scene in general.... [2]

@bobo9390: Most people are just really fucking dumb and rely too much on other people's opinions to try to fit in. Yeah, I can definitely get down with stuff like Killswitch Engage, Unearth, Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan etc even a lot of death metal but I enjoy "pussy shit" like Alesana, Blessthefall, Silverstein and so on just as much. Just like what you like.

The new Alesana ep isn't too bad. I don't like it as much as the others. I can't tell if it's cause i'm not into this kind of style anymore or if Alesana doesn't sound as good as they used to.

I mean, I rarely see people get mocked for claiming to like heavy, badass music. So what's the issue with the other end of the spectrum? I like my pansycore.

I always considered the -core genre (metalcore, hardcore, post-hardcore, emocore, post-post-post-hardcore etc.) is just like the "cry for love" of the youth in the Western "civilized" world of our time. They're "crying out their loneliness", and all their aggression is also an attempt to get their parents to show them some love! [2] this is my favorite kind of music and I agree with this entirely. It rules BECAUSE it's a melodramatic cry for attention. I don't know why some people think that's a weird thing to be proud of.

It's the same reason teenagers are suddenly jocking 90s hardcore bands that barely anyone liked back then. Hell, I think it's hysterical that Killswitch Engage headlined a day of This Is Hardcore this year because back in like 05 they were considered mallcore for Hot Topic kids. Nowadays they are looked at as seminal and important. That's how the scene works. New stuff comes out, lots of kids hate it, the ones who like it eventually reach their 20s and it starts being praised by the next generation of Kids These Days.

v real screamo sucks aside from a couple bands. Get outta here. It's only having a revival now because Tumblr dweebs needed something to make their taste appear more refined and srs. Hence why you see so many 19 and 20 year olds give history lessons on it as if they have any clue what the scene was like in it's heyday.
