Now I've come across some brilliant lyricisists in music during my life span. Some of my favorites include the emotional poetry of Sage Francis with his endless personal refences. The intresting and intriguing absurd wordplay of Aesop Rock and all of his references who fly all over the place. The obscurity of Tool or Isis, now before u bash me, I know that this is just pretentious bullshit but it is still rather fun to analyze since it supposedly has a hidden meaning or whatever :p. The complete and utter darkness that is Bethlehem's poetry. Organism 12, this guy is swedish so obviously most of you wouldn't understand most of his lyrics but really it's a great melting pot of dark poetry, metaphors and narcissism. Pst/Q is a bitter old swedish man who writes complicated cynical lyrics, probably the most advanced lyrics in swedish I've seen. CumminLynguists are pretty damn awesome too.

Finally it's time to introduce you to a very unknown fellar who has written my favorite lyric evar. This lyric has become famous in underground hip-hop circles in Sweden. BUT we don't even know who wrote it. Legend says there was a legendary performance with the original artist which supposedly was the liek the best shoaw evar, but there was only 22 people who saw it and that was the birth of hip-hop and it was born in Manchester. The legend also says he improvised the lyric straight out of his heart while freestyling (this was also the birth of freestylin'). The results? well check this godly lyric out yourself:

Today I'll be reviewing My Bloody Valentine’s recently leaked new album "Falling Upwards Again" and compare it to their masterpiece "Loveless". The new album has dumb title if you ask me, but they never were any lyrical geniuses. Anyone who read their lyrics should know this.

When I first put on the album I was surprised. This sounds like a loveless song. Wait, am I sure this isn't a friggin loveless song? Well in the end it wasn't but it sounds like something that might just have been loveless. Now I heard that they were going to use old material for the album but I guess I just didn't anticipate this. But after all not a weak start on the album, but it sure surprised me. Further on the album there are some songs that sound like their old stuff and some stuff that sounds fresh but still has the same direction. The fresh stuff isn't as good as I'd hoped it to be, but what the hell? It's pretty damn hard to top of Loveless right? The layering is amazing, as expected, some tracks are very noisy while some are more laidback and dreamy. The percussion is heavier than the older stuff and there are also some more obvious bass which is something I usually see as a good thing. I really liked the heavier drums, I'm a bit skeptic of the bass though, even though I feel like it's something that'll grow on me, it seems as if it’s out of place and doesn't belong. The new bass style isn’t that dominant and it's probably just me being too obsessive about every little detail. The other instruments, however, has most of the time all that life that we adored on Loveless. Please note that I said most of the time. That would mean that this album is not 100% spazz. Yes you heard it people, this album is at times, weak and boring, the soundscapes are sometimes completely flat and doesn't fill you up at all. This was a big letdown, but I guess it could’ve been anticipated. This album seems to be more experimental utilizing all kinds of weird distortions and layering and whatnots. The production is modern, not like the one on loveless, it still sounds like loveless (now I’m repeating myself) but it also never really does when you really listen to it (it’s hard to explain but anyone else who heard the album would know what I mean). The production is good stuff though, something I thought was improved compared to loveless, especially the production of the drums. The bass, tom and snare drums just have so much more of a thick and filly sound. The crash and ride cymbals sound a lot better too, with awesome aftertones on the ride and a really noisy crash. Yet the drums still remain kind of background-ish like on Loveless.

To sum it up, the new album is a great album. It keeps the same kind of sound as the previous album (perhaps too much?) and yet still adds some new experimentalism to it. Somehow this album still didn’t live up to my expectations. Still a must-buy for this year though.

God Save The Clientele by The Clientele (Merge) - Arguably the top release of last year but definitely my most favorite Clientele album. Understated, elegant, arresting; it's all beautifully restrained. A very impressive record. God bless The Clientele. Immediate favorites: "I Hope I Know You", "Bookshop Casanova", "Here Comes The Phantom".


Dream On by Celestial (Skipping Stones) - Twelve shimmering, heavenly pop hits that could've been on Sarah or Creation, or for that matter, Celestial's Andreas Hagman's very own, Lavender. Dream On is celestial, period. Quick favorites: "Dream On", "Nothing Happens; Twice", "The Sunshine Of Your Smile".


Something Worth Stealing by The Hepburns (Radio Khartoum) - An exhilirating and quirky mix of breezy jangle, ska-tinged and bossa-tinted guitar pop and El Records sophistication. The Hepburns' finest since the late '80's' The Magic Of The Hepburns album. Whatever the title suggests, please do not steal. First-hear favorites: "During British Winters", "Fire Red Car", "Song For Velma".


Grown-Ups by The Lodger (Slumberland/ Angular) - A blissful record of hooks, stomping beats and Wedding Present-fast guitar cacophony. It will keep you pressing that repeat button. For grown-ups and non-grown-ups alike. On-the-spot favorites: "You Got Me Wrong", "Let Her Go", "Getting Special".


Open Field by Taken By Trees (Rough Trade) - A bittersweet, minimalist record centered on ex-Concretes' Victoria Bergsman's lovelorn vocals. Its fragility and beautiful quietness call to mind Isobel Campbell (circa Milkwhite Sheets) and Vashti Bunyan. Current favorites: "Lost And Found", "Too Young", "Julia".


The Postmarks by The Postmarks (Unfiltered) - An early top favorite, The Postmarks' self-titled debut recalls Birdie, Saint Etienne and Ivy. The album's aglow with Bacharach-like production and of course, the bewitching presence of chanteuse Tim Yehezkely. Instant favorites: "Winter Spring Summer Fall", "Goodbye", "You Drift Away".


Up With The Larks by The Pearlfishers (Marina) - Supremely melodic pop poetized by main Pearlfisher, David Scott. The lush arrangements, the harmonies, a Michel Legrand reference here, a Norman Blake guesting there... London (and the rest of the world) is in love. Recently been named by the Sunday Mail as the Scottish Album of the Year. Favest favorites: "Up With The Larks", "Womack And Womack", "London's In Love".


The Great Unwanted by Lucky Soul (Ruffa Lane) - A starry-eyed gem of a record. The tunes are luscious Spector-esque, cloud nine pop confections fixated on Ali Howard's honeyed voice and her delicious bangs. Your lips will certainly be happy, so start shake-shake-shimmying. Favorites to shake-shake-shimmy to: "Lips Are Unhappy", "My Brittle Heart", "Struck Dumb".


Good To Be A Stranger by The Orchids (Siesta) - No matter what other people say, I love this album. Again, I'll quote Monsieur Alistair Fitchett: "an album that grows in stature with repeated plays; an album with a depth and maturity that rewards extended exposure and that sends out its tendrils of tender beatitude into the very deepest recesses of your heart." Immediate favorites: "The Last Thing (On My Mind)", "Take My Hand", "I Need You To Believe In Me".


Think Before You Speak by Good Shoes (Brille) - An exuberant, somewhat-complex yet somewhat-concise guitar pop album. It's unlightly sprightly, with abundant hooks, clever guitar playing, and darlingly incomprehensible singing. Grab your dancing shoes now. Bedroom dancefloor favorites: "Sophia", "All In My Head", "We Are Not The Same".

Bee Stings by BMX Bandits (Poppydisc) - Duglas Stewart returns with a dozen unforgettably fine, feathery and funtastic tunes with help from the lovely Rachel MacKenzie and The Pearlfishers' David Scott.
Daylight Storms by Air Formation (Club AC30) - Brighton shoegazing at its most enigmatic.
We Walked In Song by The Innocence Mission - A brilliant rainy day folk record where Karen Peris showcases her songwriting talent but it's her voice - fragile, penetrating and spiritual - that makes the album whole.
Returning To The Scene Of The Crime by At Swim Two Birds (Green UFOs) - A collection of new versions of Roger Quigley's songs that were available in very limited quantities in the nineties - it's provocative, heartbreaking and sublime.
The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Dreaming by Club 8 (Labrador) - A sweet return to form.

z roku na rok mam na podsumowania coraz mniej siły. ten miniony był, podobnie jak 2006, zdominowany przez muzykę ex yu, niekoniecznie nową, niekoniecznie "dobrą", (chociaż, co to jest DOBRA muzyka?) ale na pewno dostarczającą dużo przyjemności w odbiorze.
z tak zwanego "mielenia" już wyrosłam, albo po prostu jestem na nie za stara i zbyt leniwa.
