Com um nome como Aborted, não é preciso ser gênio para classificar a banda no reino do grindcore; mas desde que foi formada em 1995 pelo vocalista Sven de Caluwé (também conhecido como Gurgloroth Sven), estes belgas atravessaram limitações estilísticas para também intrometer-se na forma direta do death metal e outras formas metálicas. Muitos músicos passaram pelas fileiras do Aborted… , porém o quorum para uma primeira demo (a altamente exaltada “The Necrotorous Chronicles”) foi somente alcançado em 1998, depois do qual um par de álbuns desiguais e auto-exploratórios (“The Purity Of Perversion”, de 1999, e “Engineering the Dead”, de 2001) foram entremeados com vários EPs split gravados com outros artistas amigos. Porém, com a chegada de “Goremaggeddon: The Saw And The Carnage Done” em 2003, o Aborted cresceu no papel de contribuidores chave para os gêneros death-grind e, depois de lançar o EP “The Haematobic” no ano seguinte, trouxeram o que defensavelmente representa seu melhor momento, o “The Archaic Abattoir” de 2005. Aqui, sua formação se estabilizou (por um momento) com os guitarristas Bart Vergaert e Tace de Cloedt, o baixista Frederic Vanmassenhove, o baterista Gilles Dellecroix, e o sempre presente Caluwé.

Yeah I stopped to listen to this band after the Archaic Abattoir.Goremaggedon is great. I can't stand the core influences, it totally ruins them. There is simply no brutality in deathcore
