I've played 1000 tracks since I signed up to Last.fm back on Christmas day. So 1000 tracks in under 14 days.
My top 10 artists is starting to take shape now.
10)
Muse
They just beat
Arctic Monkeys to the final position on my list. My favourite track by them at the moment is
The Groove. It's probably them at their best. You just can't help but sing along :)
9)
Beastie Boys
I recently ripped
Anthology: The Sounds of Science (disc 1) and disc 2 (I had to put disc 1 there for it to match :) for my friend who wanted to borrow the CD. I hadn't listened to it for quite a while. As soon as I put it in I knew all of the songs again. You know that feeling you get when you find a song that you worshipped a few years ago that you've completely forgotten about since, and then you suddenly hear it again? It was like that the whole way through.
Benny and the Jets makes me laugh every single time I hear it.
Sabotage is purely amazing, as is
Fight for Your Right.
8)
Oasis
I'm quite surprised to see
Oasis in this list, especially above
Muse. I don't have that many tracks by them on my computer. I do have the vast majority of their songs (including B-sides) on CDs and tapes all over the place though. Sometimes you just have to listen to
Champagne Supernova or
Stand by Me though. The new album is pretty excellent and I really do love
The Importance Of Being Idle.
7)
Barenaked Ladies
These guys are awesome. One of only a few Canadian groups that I can name, and certainly the best I can think of right now. They have tracks that make me really happy (
One Week) and some that send me thinking about life and the challenges we face (
When You Dream). Nice easy listening music for the most part.
6)
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Absolutely awesome! I can listen to RHCP in pretty much any mood. They have songs that suit me all the time.
Scar Tissue is nice to listen to, along with tracks like
Otherside make
Californication one of my very favourite albums of all time.
5)
Deltron 3030
I'm listening to
Battlesong right now. I only first heard Deltron by himself in the last 2 weeks. Of course I know of him because of his work with
Gorillaz, but I really like his regular stuff too. Not my usual cup of tea, but definitely in my top 10 at the moment.
4)
The Shins
Very surprised to see The Shins this high up on my list. I can only really name one of their tracks and that's because of Garden State.
Caring Is Creepy is one of my very favourite tracks, but I'm pretty sure I haven't played it enough to get The Shins into my top 5. I guess "random" just really likes them. Don't get me wrong, I like them a lot, I'm just not sure how they got so high.
3)
Foo Fighters
I own all of their albums. I think they're the only band I can actually say that about... They have so many songs that I love it's unbelievable. I really fell in love with
Everlong the first time I heard it (the live version on the Howard Stern show). You can't beat a bit of
Monkey Wrench either. I can pretty much just listen to any song on any album at any time and be happy with it :)
2)
The Offspring
The only band I've ever seen live twice. The first concert I ever went to see was because of these guys. The only reason
AFI were the first band I ever saw live is because they were supporting on that night. I don't have all of the albums and I don't really know why. I like every track they've done.
Bad Habit is one of my very favourite tracks of all time, and is always fun to listen to when you're driving, or playing GT4 or Burnout. Everyone has to sing along with that one bit "you stupid dumb shit goddamn motherfucker!" That's probably my second favourite moment at a concert ever... The way the whole crowd always gets behind it is awesome. Second only to the Dumb Roll I mentioned in my last post about
The Bloodhound Gang.
1)
Feeder
They are a really good band. I love the songs I first heard on Gran Turismo on the playstation and places like that. I don't want to sound like an idiot, but I heard them so long before they became popular it's crazy. The whole time I was walking around singing
Sweet 16 wondering how come nobody else had heard of them. I was so happy when they became big, and then so sad when their drummer comitted suicide.
Comfort in Sound definitely has a completely different feel to the ones that came before it, and I was a little disappointed because I was expecting some anthems. I've since realised that there are some truly great tracks on that album, but I do prefer the older stuff more, and the newer suff is also an improvement, in my eyes.
So that wraps up my top 10 artist after 1000 tracks have been played. I think Feeder will quite probably be staying at the number 1 spot for a long time because of the sheer number of tracks I have by them. I'll be surprised if
The Shins are still in the top 5 by the time I hit 2000 and I'll be
very surprised if
Arctic Monkeys don't appear.
