Here is a quick list of 10 bands I absolutely adore that even those in the underground tend to not know that much about.
1. the pAperchAse: From Denton, TX, there simply is no band like them. Big Black plus Pink Floyd really doesn't even come into the neighborhood, but it's a start, they are truly and completely unique, and ought to be as big as Radiohead.

2. Jucifer: Take the heaviness of The Melvins and add the mood and ambience of Portishead, and you have a start for what this fantastic two piece is all about. They tour pretty much constantly and are a sight to behold live.

3. Big Business: one dude from Karp another from Murder City Devils, more rock then you can shake a stick at. Since they are both IN the Melvins now, their profile has raised considerably. Which is good, they rule. Just As The Day Was Dawning, is an earthshaker BTW.

4. Replicator: Nobody can write better songs about Time Travel and Sex Robots and just absolutely nail you to the wall with their rock. Vicerally chaotic and pummeling, and smart as all get out, probably too smart to ever get any real success. I hope history remembers them well. Oh yeah, a rad sense of humor too! Login with my fist!!! RIYL: The Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Devo, Wire and think it'd be really cool to hear a band actually EXPAND on the 90s noiserock thing

5. Lower Forty-Eight: Epic, truly epic. One of the few times that pure musicianship can get past King Crimson style plonking and meadering and just meld completely with punk intensity for noiserock greatness. Listen to If I Dare, and tell me they shouldn't be playing arenas.

6. Ifihadahifi: Dancey, chaotic, witty fun. Taking a page from Brainiac, they may indeed by Wisconsin's finest.

7. Akimbo: Brutal, simply brutal. D&D nerds go Metal/Noiserock/Hardcore crazy. If you like Refused, like I do, you should check 'em out. The live show is great too, and since they tour constantly, i'm sure you can see them soon!

8. Wipers: Astroundingly influential punk band from the Pacific North West, they never, ever got their due. To call them a punk band is kind of selling them short, a lot of people call Greg Sage the Jimi Hendrix of punk rock. That's not just hype, he's that good. If you love the Hot Snakes and you don't know the wipers, well... you should! Considering Over The Edge is where they got about 90% of their sound.

9. Federation X: Somewhere in Bellingham noiserock and Southern Rock can meet together in friendly harmony. Seriously, play them between ZZ Top and Helmet and it flows seemlessly. These dudes should be Queens of the Stone Age huge. They just rule it!

10. 400 Blows: Harsh and brutal, just like I like it. Well worth checking out.
