Kieran Buchanan - wanna be a kung fu star! (free websingle)

01. wanna be a kung fu star!
02. world is a snowglobe
This is my second digital single. I feel like these two songs express things I've been trying to express for a long term - better than anything I've done before, anyway. Simultaneous feelings of longing and deep contentment. Both songs are electronic, using a wide variety of synths and samples to create a nostalgic atmosphere with post-rock inspired melodies and chord progressions.
You can download from my bandcamp:

Or on what.cd or waffles.fm.
Please listen, and if you like it, tell some folks about it! Thanks!

Kieran Buchanan - See You Next Summer demo available

The earliest song on this album goes back about a year, but really I've been working on it for way longer than that. (Maybe someone remembers Staring at Stars.) In the past 8 months or so I've put a ridiculous amount of time into it, especially for someone who's in school and has a job. And in the end, all those months of work resulted in 23 minutes of music. Which I still feel could be way better. But here it is.
The music doesn't really sound like any other artists (that I know of). There are influences, both sonic and conceptual, from post-rock, IDM, drum and bass, trip-hop, and ambient. It varies from completely mellow to rather harsh, but I like to think I tied it together OK. The first song is under 3 minutes and includes chopped-up breakbeats, a eurodancey synth gate, a drum solo, and a sample from Hitchcock's Notorious. The last song is a rework of Taps. Yes, that Taps.
I had 50 copies printed. I'm sending off as many as I can to labels, which will probably be 5-15. The rest I'm going to try to sell myself.

50 Questions, yo.
Jun 19 2010, 18h10 por atno094
1) How did you get into no.29? (Queens of the Stone Age)
Not really sure. I just randomly decided to check out Songs for the Deaf...
2) What's the first song you ever heard by no.22? (Make Me)
rubber sidewalks. Never thought much of it. I dig them, now, though.
3) Whats your favorite lyric by no.33? (The Fall of Troy)
Hm..."The siren sings, to pull you in, as things are wearing thin. The time it takes, before the rain, let me introduce myself, my name is Fate."
4) How did you get into no.49? (Castevet)
I have no 49, so I'm just going to use the last in a series of 47's. Castevet is big in the Midwest post-hardcore/emo revival scene. I enjoy music in that style, therefore, Castevet is awesome. And they are.
5) How many albums by no.13 do you own? (Hightide Hotel)
None. They don't even have an album yet. They have a free download, a cassette and a 7" split. I'd totally buy the cassette, but I think they're sold out.
