1. Rammstein - 313
Rammstein still on top, also because of their new album released. DevilDriver is getting stronger, with Dez Fafara being the Vocalist of the Year (Coal Chamber at tenth place). I guess my biggest discovery is Joy Division - very atmospheric and quite dark music, especially on Unknown Pleasures (I have to say I prefer it to Closer). All That Remains became another metalcore band I really like - melodic, but still heavy. What I like about (hed) Planet Earth is their crossover style of playing - these guys are not afraid of mixing rap, funk, reggae, punk and metal, what makes them quite unique. Slayer and Faith No More are classic bands I got to know recently and, yes, I have found a few songs interesting. American Head Charge disbanded this year - so sad, I still love their sick music. And 40 Below Summer got my attention, too - never enough of catchy and aggressive tracks.

And the winner is... "Shadowplay"! Why? Just listen. And these solos - I had to learn them. Highly energetic "Clous over California" and a real killer track "Resurrection" were pumping me up during this hard year. "Paper Tiger" captivated me with its brutal verses and quite an epic chorus. An idea of performing Misfits song at the horror themed party made me try to learn to sing "Dig Up Her Bones" - it was very fun, because the song is extremely catchy (I didn't perform it, though - I only disguised as Doyle). What about "New Dawn Fades"? Beautiful and haunting (and this intro...). Then we have a Rammstein track - "Spieluhr" - I love the way how the "music box" and their guitars sound together. "This Calling" shows the essence of ATR music. "Dirty World" has a cool riff. Really angry "Sirens" closes my TOP 10 of 2009.
Is there something I would like to add? Yes! Happy New Year 2010!
