  It's worked out for me. It's better than having to enjoy the show beside a friend who's not into it. But it does suck in-between bands. I just drink beer and smoke more than I really want to. I still pogo and sometimes get carried away. I saw Broadcast and Atlas Sound alone last fall. It was raining and freezing. I had to drive 2.5 hours, got lost at night in DC and soaked because I had to park far away. I'm glad about it. I left the show happily...and quickly.

  I always attend to gigs alone. Including to travel to other countries. It sucks, but it sucks more to lose the band you like.

  I wish I had ppl that would go to gigs with me. I mean I will drag ppl to gigs sometimes but they don't like my music so it sucks. I haven't gone to a concert alone yet, but believe you me, it will happen.

  I would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of going to gigs alone to definitely go! I do it most of the time & last night I saw Ricky Warwick (supported by New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack) live in Glasgow & ended up spending nearly the whole main set talking with Mick & Matt from the latter. I used to put it off and put it off until one day I just bit the bullet and went & have been hooked ever since. So yes, definitely go man!!

  "it's gotten to the point where, unless the person i'm going with is super special, i have no desire to go to shows with anyone else. " Same here. The thing is, my friends usually prefer a much more passive way of enjoying the gig than I do. They want to drink beer and watch the band from afar, while I want to jump around, get in the pit, headbang, pogo, get all sweaty, wait for endless hours to be in the front row etc. etc. My friends will end up feeling abandoned when I get absorbed by the live experience.
