Saving Iceland is a global network of individuals who come together to build a grassroots movement able to defend the Icelandic wildernesses from the death kiss of Heavy Industry. We aim to be as creative, organic and powerful as the landscape that forms our raison d'etre. Therefore we are made up of activists, artists and academics who build by pushing the boundaries of resistance and protest; like a healthy ecosystem whose essence lies in equal coexistence not stifling hierarchies and mastering patriarchs, we refuse all leadership structures, both internal and external; our values are as uncompromising as a winter blizzard on Vatnajökul, and we will not relent until the Heavy Industrialists flee as terrified as a failed expedition onto a Glacier.

Stop the Icelandic government and arms manufacturers Alcoa, Alcan and Century Aluminum destroying Europe’s largest remaining wilderness for aluminium plants! Be aware of the ‘master plan’ to ‘develop’ Iceland’s beautiful nature into a heavy industry hell servicing the greed of aluminium corporations! It has already started. A whole world is being drowned right now in the eastern Icelandic highlands. But the Kárahnjúkar dam project is only the beginning of a much wider destruction. These multinational vandals - willingly helped by the Icelandic government - are about to produce an environmental catastrophe of unprecedented proportions. It is not too late to stop all the other energy projects that are in the pipeline and drive heavy industry out of Iceland!

@hjölli: thanks for you comment. i am sorry i have experienced different parts of iceland than you did. i have travelled to the east fjords 3years ago when i have lived on iceland too. open your eyes a little bit wider and may leave the area around reykjavík for a while to the east. arguments like yours are not really helpful in this discussion.
