What was your first Radiohead song?

  • What was your first Radiohead song?

The first song you heard when you realized how amazing Radiohead is. It doesn't have to literally be the first song you heard, just the first song that blew you away.

    Mine was "Lucky".

Airbag, just the best opener to any album ever.

    God Bless Radiohead
  • It was No Surprises and Lucky, I had been trying to get into Radiohead last summer and so far OK Computer had been pretty boring to me but one day i was kinda bored so i tried listening to it while walking around a store and i can remember enjoying Subterranean Homesick Alien and Electioneering but it was just the sequencing of those two songs that won me over and got me to try some of their other material(The Bends and Pablo Honey) and love it and then even go back to OKC and love it too.

  • hmmmmm that's tough. i bought OK computer about five years ago and thought it was great. however, i the first time i realized that radiohead was flat-out amazing was probably the first time i popped in hail to the thief. radiohead has a knack for opening albums with really strong pieces and, as mentioned above, sequencing. when i heard "2+2=5" and then "sit down. stand up." right after it, my head just about fell off. lately i've kind of rekindled my love for radiohead, especially Kid A, which has probably given me more chills than any other album of theirs

Zoe Ball (of all people) was a DJ on XFM, she happened to play Paranoid Android, the first time I heard it it was a 'hmmm s'quite good' kind of reaction, the second time a few days later was just wowwwwwww. Must've been in the build up to the release of Hail to the Thief.

Street Spirit and Exit Music (for a film).

  • Just probably or The Bends

"Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind"
  • I would have to easily say The Bends. Its one of the very few Radiohead songs that I can listen to all day and non-stop.

  • Karma Police, november '97

...and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.
  • I bought all seven of their albums in one auction on eBay for $29 (with shipping). I listened to them in chronological order, all in one day. I awoke that day a music listener. I went to sleep that night a music lover; although obviously I discovered more and more of their genius with more listens.

If I had to pick one song, "Paranoid Android" or "Everything in Its Right Place".

  • Let Down.

it gave me goose bumps the first time. it still does today.

  • I heard Creep first, but it wasn't enough to turn me onto them.
Some online friends recommended I try some other songs by them a long time after I heard Creep, and I think the ones that really blew me away were Karma Police, Just and High and Dry.

Now I lay me down to sleep
    Try to count electric sheep
Sweet dream wishes you can keep
    How I hate the night.
