    Zloty Dawai

Well, here are some nice reviews of the last 2 Zloty Dawai Albums:

Zloty Dawai - Teleopsis Belzebuth (2005):

There’s good chaos and bad chaos. Sometimes improv works, sometimes it doesn’t. Though I can’t articulate why, Teleopsis Belzebuth works. It’s noisy, unpredictable, exciting, and unedited. The title track is especially fascinating: I love the tortured, processed voices primitively reacting to the fearsomely chaotic music growing around them (it’s an idea repeated elsewhere on the album). It calls to mind a small group of frightened Neanderthals surrounded by giant bug-like aliens in shaky, legged transports. Or, you know, that early scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey where the apes start freaking out over the first monolith and there’s that eerie, droning music.

Zloty Dawai - Dada Work Chant (2006):

The five person improvisation group Zloty Dawai likes to live on the edge. Their albums are recorded in one take with no editing and no overdubbing. Their previous album on WM recordings received raves from Free Album Galore and from just about everyone who listened to it. Their new album Dada Work Chant is another amazing sound experience.

As with the last album, Zloty Dawai intermingles ambient soundscapes with long doses of avant-garde jazz and noise. Their effortless ability to go from dreamscapes to chaos is fascinating. There is a special empathy between the musicians. This type of music always runs the risk of sounding indulgent and meaningless. Yet there is a clear communication of structure and meaning in this improvisatory feast. This is an experimental music album that begs for repeated listenings. There is so much going on that each listen will reveal new layers.

  • hi, i'm a cybervocalist/vocal mixer in australia making electronic sounds of varying styles with other artist/producers around the globe, most of our tracks are collected at the Pixieguts artist page.

i also run pixies palace group, an eclectic artist-based group with a central focus on electronic music making. i have added a link to this group in the sidebar there too.

glad to be here with you...

  • hi, I'm a video artist and electronic music producer. I've been making music and video for about 15 years in various groups and guises. I've gone from drumming in a hardcore band to forming the video art improv group 'Deconstructed Cinema' where I first started working in experimental electronic music. I play and enjoy many styles of music but I've more recently gone back to playing and writing more experimental forms.

My most recent work noosign is turning into a group with other musicians that I've worked with in the past. Nosign is a result of ideas that came from Soundtracks written for my video work originally.

Happy to have found the group, I don't know how you do recommendations in this group, but I've recently become a big fan of the net label Zymogen http://www.zymogen.net/index.php zymogen. Standout releases for me on that label are Porcelain in the backpack - Sand and Loam, Marihiko Hara - Cesura and the new con-cetta Sclerosis.

no worries zorzy! while i like having lastfm artists in this group and that's one of the ideas behind it, i really really hope it does not turn into a group of predominantly lastfm artists trying to promo their stuff to each other (been there, done that in other places).

one of the things i love about lastfm vs some other sites is that it really is listener oriented and not swamped with artists. so i really hope this group also attracts many listeners who do not themselves have music here. I'm sure our artist members feel the same :)

    Hi,
I create dark ambient music for my project Iron Throne but I joined this group in order to find more ambient artists and music, as I don't know of many at the moment.

My musical project is Broken Hearts on Ice. I explore three main musical spectra - improvisation, chance music, and electronic/algorithmic music. I'm putting out a new album of electronic works ranging from breakcore to electronic-freakout to ambient. Many of the tracks are available for download on the album page.

My record label is G-Wohl Productions, which houses both my recordings and the works of others that I produce, engineer, and promote. The latest release is by Rob Funkhouser, a modern classical composer who deals a lot with electronics. The album is Staircases To Nowhere.

Awesome group, and love the other music I've heard from this thread!

  • Hi

The sounds that I like are accidents, which are not made specifically to be recorded. I think a lot of sounds you just hear in the world are very beautiful &/or very interesting; but we usually don’t notice them because we are busy doing things.

Something I love about the sounds I record is how small differences can change the way things and places sound – like what season it is, how far away something is, what the weather is like. It is the little details that make one recording more interesting, more evocative, than another.

My fav track at the moment is: http://www.last.fm/music/Joe+Stevens/_/with+the+window+wide+open

    .

Hox Vox is a solo project by me, Hox (Gianluca Missero), born in Venezia (Italy).
The approach of my work is influenced by The Residents, Frank Zappa, Pere Ubu, Can and Les Claypool; music environment is RIO/progressive, with an obsession for not-proper use of instruments, song structures and bizarre twists on caribbean, post-rock or gamelan themes.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also make videoclips, as Hox Vox is a multimedia project,
aimed to a tight relationship between experimental music and movie picture.
They're available at YouTube channel Hox Vox Box

All of the tracks, videoclips and artworks are free to listen, watch, download and share as they're released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License.
