Unofficial J2ME audio scrobbler client for mobile devices and phones that support Java Micro Edition
I'm currently developing an audio scrobbler in J2ME as I wanted to be able to scrobble all of the music I listen to on my Sony Ericsson W890i. The plan is to create a fully fledged MP3 player and player that scrobbles tracks and will eventually also allow streamed radio. It's currently in a fledgling alpha state, but I'm trying to get something more stable together that people can test.
Currently, it can:
- navigate a phone's internal memory and memory card
- add and remove tracks from a playlist (max. 64 tracks)
- persist the playlist between sessions
- display information about the currently playing track
- read most ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags (not all tag frames are supported at the moment)
- configure a last.fm user and save to data store (password is pre-hashed for security)
- handshake and scrobble tracks
- requeue tracks that didn't submit properly first time around
- persist unscrobbled tracks to data store. These are submitted when the app is next started
- log activity/errors to file
If you're interested in a Java/J2ME-based audio scrobbler, join up and I'll update the group as I make more progress.
The URL to download the MobScrob .jar file is: http://www.mobscrob.com/retrievejar.php
The source code for MobScrob is available on GitHub at http://github.com/njpearman/mobscrob. It's currently in a bit of a mess, but feel free to have a look and fork it to make improvements to the application.
