Turn on the Bright Lights vs Antics

Turn on the Bright Lights seems to be obviously the greater album. Or is it????? Yes

As a complete album, Turn On The Bright Lights is better but Antics has better individual songs.

Turn on the Bright Lights is extremely better. The songs, the way they sound, the lyrics, they are utter perfection if such a thing existed. Antics is also good, but even with it's great songs it cannot come up and match Turn on The Bright Lights. ToTBL was mind fucking and it's pretty much the equivalent to perfection.

Turn On The Bright Lights - Dark, brooding brilliance.

Antics - Sophomore slump with a few solid singles.

you guys are deaf...

Anitcs is far better in sound, and lyrically 20x better than TOTBL. Its also far more complex.. sure, TOTBL has sentimental value to all of us, which is why I think people tend to think of it as a better album.. but you have to be objective here and 'listen' to Antics.. is a far better album.

Antics is more immediate, I think TOTBL has more depth. Whatever, I think both albums are brilliant!

apparently neither one of you has a really good thesaurus on hand....

its so much more evolved in sound production and lyrically.... but, I understand why you would feel that way. I do love them both, however, Antics sticks out in my mind a bit more. However, i will say this.. when I had the oppurtunity to meet them.. I did choose TOTBL for them to sign.. only because 'of the sentimental' value.. and I love 'PDA' -tis my favortie 'Pol song.. particularly live.. ;)

Well I completely adore both albums...but I think I'd have to pick Turn On The Bright Lights, if purely because Roland is perhaps one of my all-time favourite songs...ever.

I agree. Turn on the Bright Lights as a WHOLE is a better album, but Antics has a small handful of superior-quality singles.

I don't know why everyone gets so damned tetchy over this. Discussion and debate is great... but saying someone is "wrong" because they don't agree with you is verging on fanboy/fangirl-type behaviour.

Vote for Turn on the Bright Lights.

Definitely TOTBL, tho there is Public Pervert, NARC and Evil (my favourite song of all time!) on Antics, you have quality after quality on TOTBL... In particular Say Hello to the Angels, apart, perhaps, from Hands Away and The New.

TOTBL seems to be less upbeat which I tend to like more. I like it more than Antics, but it's good as well.

TotBL of course!

Easy. Turn on the bright lights = 5/5*, Antics = 4/5*.
The first one is brilliant, and I guess it's the album which I played the most times in my whole life. Just because it's compatible with all my possible moods and the album is never boring. Antics does not provide that balanced mood-compatibility (When I'm tired, Antics is not that fine), it's not more or less than a good album.

I like Turn On the Bright Lights better, although Antics gives a different kind of feel. TOBTL was more upbeat, and Antics was slower.
