    THE BEST BAND EVER

Which band in rock's history is BEST GREATEST MOST INCREDIBLE in all meanings of this words?

For me only good answer is U2. That's why:
    > they've made many great songs and few really great masterpiece albums
    > they has coloured their own style by many many styles so their discography isn't boring at all
    > they are (or better: were) able to record great pieces of both funny and moving, serious songs
    > I think no-one has been ever giving as good shows as U2 (ZooTV, POPMart, even Vertigo Tour - MADNESS!!)
    > For almost first day 30 years ago they have been playing in the same squad.

Also on podium thre should be a place for Pink Floyd & Rolling Stones in my opinion.

    hmmm... any other opinions?

  • The Rolling Stones.

  • maybe Led Zepplelin

  • I don't think that there is a GREATEST BAND EVER. There are too many bands that could fill those shoes. Here's a fiew of the bands that I think are up there with the greats:

    U2
    The Doors
    Thin Lizzy
    The Rolling Stones
    Cream
    The Who
    Led Zeplin
    Queen

    The Cult
    The Doors
    Jimi Hendrix Experience
    Deep Purple
    Black Sabbath (ozzy years)
    Yes
    Rush
    The Rolling Stones

Ok, yeah i forgot other awesome bands, it's not a real top ten i guess.

  • Depends

    Rock'n'roll: The Kinks

    Prog: Pink Floyd

    Hard Rock: Led Zeppelin

    pop/rock: The Beatles

  • Probably the Stones. And Floyd. And The Beatles.
    And I think that's it. ^^

    dream theater.

    But.....

if your going for classics then there are so many

today i shall say Hendrix Experience.

  • jeśli mowa o jednym jedynym to chyba rzeczywiście docenię wielkość Floydów-w pełni zasłużyli na tytuł Najlepszego Zespołu Wszechczasów choć mą miłością jest niezmiennie Pearl Jam.

    --------

if we want to talk 'bout the greatest band ever i think i should say-Pink Floyd cause they deserving for this title for sure.but i'm still in love with Pearl Jam.

  • Too many different styles to really compare properly... but Genesis! ;)

Dream Theater are the most talented band I've ever heard, which I suppose is the only objective way to decide. Not to everyone's taste though.

I second earlier comments about U2's live shows - when is there going to be a DVD release of Zoo TV?

And if you like that show, get Peter Gabriel's Secret World Live - traditionally, he's the master of theatrics in rock shows, but he stopped doing it for a while. Then he saw Zoo TV, and this happened!

  • Oops, triple post. Much weirdness with browser.
