let me introduce you this fine idea:

    steal
    v. stole, (stl) sto·len, (stln) steal·ing, steals
    v. tr.

    1. To take (the property of another) without right or permission.
    2. To get or effect surreptitiously or artfully: steal a kiss; stole the ball from an opponent.
    3. To move, carry, or place surreptitiously.
    4. To draw attention unexpectedly in (an entertainment), especially by being the outstanding performer: The magician's assistant stole the show with her comic antics.
    5. Baseball. To advance safely to (another base) during the delivery of a pitch, without the aid of a base hit, walk, passed ball, or wild pitch.

    v. intr.

    1. To commit theft.
    2. To move, happen, or elapse stealthily or unobtrusively.
    3. Baseball. To steal a base.

    n.

    1. The act of stealing.
    2. Slang. A bargain.
    3. Baseball. A stolen base.

    hmm...

it would be an "act of stealing" ... no less... that's the last.fm restriction (sensible).... last.fm could not allow illegal content hosting :)

  • It's not stealing. Last.fm will not make money off of it, and the group clearly states what the image represents. How else should WinXP be represented, if not with its own logo? It's reasonable use.

I got in a fight with another famous national company over this same thing. Guess who won.

Can't you just find a promotional windows xp image on their site or something? You'd be allowed to use that...

i guess the same reason why artist images (NOT album art, that's automatically copyprotected by the artist/designer/label) have to be in public domain too.
