I should also mention that Tobacco's album "Fucked Up Friends" takes this vibe and applies it to the American 70's childhood. It's an album full of dirt, hair, gum, and snow imagery, and such things. It's got a great eerie electronic vibe, but it's also pretty catchy. His band, Black Moth Super Rainbow, is similar, but takes the weird vibe and makes it more about psychedelics.

By the way, I'm an undergrad film student and I've been working on a series of semi-hauntological films lately. I'm on my second one right now. The first one is an absurdist found-footage mockumentary in the style of old 60's educational films. Once I'm finished with the whole project it'll have its own website. For now though, if you're interested, you can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRAW9nzQGt8&feature=channel_page

Thanks for the invite! Your group description did an excellent job of summing up a style of music that I've always gravitated to, from various starting points. My prog rock tastes led me to Comus, my film tastes led me to The Brothers Quay (and Jan Svankmajer), my weird 80's music tastes led me to Eno (and by the way, "Ambient IV: On Land" and "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" definitely are his most hauntological records), and my love of weirdo electronic music brought me to Boards of Canada, White Noise, and Ghost Box. Great stuff, and it's great to see it brought together! I assume you've read K-Punk's blog posts about hauntology? He has some great writings on Nigel Kneale's films, the show Sapphire and Steel (very worth watching for the hauntological value if nothing else), Ghost Box, and Mordant Music. His blog is at http://k-punk.abstractdynamics.org/ Man, great stuff! I love the creepy, mysterious feeling stuff like this invokes.
