what book are you reading atm?

  • I haven't started reading them yet, but a friend recommended Agyar and To Reign In Hell, both by Steven Brust, to me. So I plan on starting them later this week.

1984 has recycled itself to the top of my soon to read books...

Rereading 1984 now. I had almost forgotten how much I love this book.

right now I've got three going and one sort of... in progress?
    reading:
Bacon to Kant: an introduction to modern philosophy (an old text book I never read in the class)
Being no one, Going no where
    The Prince
Le Petit Prince (my lack of practicing french and studying latin paused that one)

but like I said 1984 is at the top of my books to read again and I'm not currently reading any fiction

  • Right now I just finished Kafka on the Shore and South of the Border, West of the Sun by Murakami and I'm starting the Wind Up Bird Chronicle. Even after that and the 4 or 5 other things by him I've read, I will still have to read Dance Dance Dance and a Wild Sheep Chase before I'm done with this guys stuff.

    Don't let them fool you.

Le Petit Prince is one of the most profound books I have ever read, but it's so easy to understand. Great book.

    I started reading Girl, Interrupted.
I originally got the movie. Then I discovered the book was nonfiction. So I decided to go with the book instead. :]

Last and First Men: A Story of the Near and Far Future by Olaf Stapledon

it's funny to read this book because it was written in 1930's and its visions of future are pretty exciting.

The Collected Tales And Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

Somewhere close to page 400, which still leaves me with about 800 - 900 pages to go. Somewhat dispiriting sometimes, but a good read nonetheless. I've read some, if not the most hilarious stories ever written by mankind. As an added consequence, it has induced a considerable expansion of my English vocabulary.

  • 'A People's History Of The United States' by Howard Zinn. After this book I want to read "No logo" by Naomi Klein.

I've read Hornby's "High Fidelity" after seeing and loving the movie. He's pretty good, or at least that one was.

    oh Nick Hornby!
    High Fidelity=great.
A Long Way Down=Fascinating but forgettable.
About A Boy=Terrible book i wish to never come into contact with again.

i've taken from my "Trash" pile of books & am reading Seeds Of Yesterday [the flowers in the attic series] I know I KNOW it's terrible but everyone needs a bit trash now and then.
Also in the midst of "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" & Battle royale manga. :P
