  @Laro20: like all mammals, cows only produce milk when they're impregnated and thereafter give birth. in most cases, humans artificially inseminate them so that they're able produce milk for us to drink. their male calves, being the by-product of the dairy industry, are either raised for veal or killed. the females are mostly raised to take the place of her mother when she's slaughtered, or they're just killed. this is extremely upsetting for the mother, not to mention that she needs to go through the process again and again to keep the milk production constant (in most breeds). dairy consumption is just as cruel as eating the animals themselves.

  Do we, by any chance, get our milk with the intention of dimishing the pain from cows grazing free around the countryside or do we lock them into cages and flood them with hormones to make them more productive and to thank them for their hard work we reduce drastically their natural lifetime with a terrible death?

  How is drinking milk considered a bad thing? If humans didn't milk cows they would be in pain and their tits would be swollen.
