So,the topic is about which Uriah Heep Cd:s you have/like most.Currently i've got 9 (from Very eavy' very umble' to High & Mighty).

The Magician's Birthday is my favourite since it has ever green songs like Blind Eye,and masterpieces like The Magician's Birthday.

I have no CD's I only have their albums on vinyl.
Till now...Demons and Wizards, Firefly, Conquest(very bad one lol). I'm about to get more UH vinyls since I'm a collector.

My favorite vinyl is Demons and Wizards...the whole album is just amazing! My alltime favorite album. And The Wizard is my favorite track ever.
And cover is great! Beautiful indeed.

  • Vinyl ones are much cooler,i admit that, but the downside is that its pretty hard to take them anywhere ie.summer cottage because of their size. And also you cant download them on your comp.Otherwise theyre much better.

Ah, vinyls must stay at home, on safe place. :D
They are meant to be treated gently! lol.

    Heep on!

  • I have the Vinyl's too. The original 'Look at Yourself' cover is amazing. Cd's are convenient, but boring to look at.

Great! Of course you'll (or you already do) love them. Firefly is one of my favorite albums. I think that after Firefly magic in their music was lost.

  • Sea Of Light was pretty good, thought i need to listen it a few more times to get more out of it :D.

    Didnt buy Firefly,yet...
Possibly sometime next week, dunno. It'll Probably be great Heep album, not sure about the albums following it thought, heard from pretty much everywhere that theyre just mediocre MTV-PoP :(.

  • just bought Firefly :D,and like you said,it was awesome :P.The singer (Lawton?) sounds much like Byron sometimes.
    Anyway,great album.

Btw, Been away too long was the best one on Firefly

    Awesome song!

I think I love every single song from Firefly album...except Sympathy. Firefly, Wise man are my favorite songs. I also love song called Far Better Way...but this one is just on remmastered album. In this song you can see quality of Lawton's vocal!
Like I said, Lawton had the most quality vocals among Heep singers IMO.
I'm really glad you like it. I recommend you Heep (Lawton's era) album called Fallen Angel. But don't be surprised when you first listen to it. It's pretty pop rock and some songs just pop. But what the hell...I love it anyway. :P

    Cheers, Jana

  • Saw Fallen Angel along with Rough Diamond on vinyl few days ago, and a thought came "What the hell, ill start collectin those :)". 10.9 here in helsinki are somekind of music messu <---- finnish word :D.Anyway ill buy the thing

This thing that plays vinyls is called gramophone. :D
Damn I'm trying to get Rough Diamond on vinyl here...but no luck. You can't get much good albums here in Slovenia...so I have to order vinyls here on internet.
My next vinyl will be Toe Fat - Toe Fat I (pre-Uriah heep band)

Guess we visit the same record shops (me living in Espoo not surprising), since I too saw some Heep vinyls just last week and bought Demons & Wizards (from Helsinki obviously). What the hell, it was cheaper than on CD. Sadly it's from 1986, not from the 70s but anyway, it's still cooler than CDs. Heh, guess that I'll try to collect them all too, but I have too many records on my to-buy-list to be in a hurry.

Aren't those Levymessut (finnish takes over the Uriah Heep group, beware) on 9.9. or am I talking about a different thing?

I've Very 'eavy very 'umble on CD and Look at Yourself on vinyl, or actually that one's mom's, but she stopped listening to rock round 30 years ago, so I can claim it as my own. Awesome cover, I agree. That's all for now, the collection's gonna grow, if not sooner then in January when Wake the Sleeper comes out. This means that one of my current 4 (or 6) favourite bands is here, sadly, as #38. Favourite's Look at Yourself, but it's very possibly changing as I get more albums and listen to them more, I never usually like anything the first time I listen to it.

  • Yea, we are talking about the same thing, actually they were held on 10.9 but nevermatter :).

Vinyls there were so damn expensive,so i bought only :

    Rainbow Rising

    Uriah Heep Demons & Wizards.

well the shops that i visit are : Keltainen Jäänsärkijä (Awesome place :))

Music Hunter <---- heaven, everything from cd's to posters and t-shirts.

Fennica Records, the place where i saw Rough Diamond among other great vinyls,i dont visit this one so often though.

  • I have Demons and Wizards, Look At Yourself (my two favourites!), The Magician's Birthday and Salisbury (which, for some reason, I dislike, except for Lady in Black).

Do you guys (or girls) have any recommendations for me?

    Very 'eavy... Very 'umble

    Classic, and the first album.

It Ain't a Crime to be Good to Yourself
  • High & Mighty / Sweet Freedom should also be on your list

since they both are great albums (with High & Mighty being one of my favourites).

I recommend Wonderworld and/or Return To Fantasy only if youre a Heep purist :D

I can't get too well into Very 'eavy... very 'umble, but probably just more listening will solve that problem, as I usually dislike just about everything when I hear it the first time. Sweet Freedom is good, will pobably get better with time, and Wonderworld has Dreams, a great track (I don't have the whole album).

  • ive gotta say that dreams is one of the worst heep tracks ever made (even thought i hate to say anything bad about Uriah Heep) but that track is simply horrific.

i gotta shoot my self for saying that :(

but anyway the song sucks. :DD

^^ and also... listen Dreammare, come away melinda,i'll keep on trying, wake up (set your sights),Very eavy is great album it just may take sometime to start "working" :D

  • It depends what mood you are in. I love 'Come away Melinda' when I am in the mood for it, I skip it when I am not.

It is all subjective. There is so much 'Heep', there is something for everyone :o)

  • I like all. But only when it was Byron, Box, Hensley, Kerslake and Gary Thain. But Uriah heep Live 73 was best! :)

I'm not så good at english.
