• NELL JAMES

Well, now she gets her own topic:
    NELL JAMES

I am a silent reader of the GG fan mailinglist OnReflection, and I have received a few NellJames mails yet. This is the latest:

Just a quick note to let you know that ProgPositivity Radio is featuring O-R member Nell James' debut CD "Tempus" all day today!

Each hour - all day today - we are playing another track from this surprisingly mature debut CD from this 17 year-old USA prodigy Nell James.

Listening to Tempus, I hear some Yes and GG influences intermingled with a folk-tinged, personal singer-songwriter sensibility.

"Tempus" recently got a 4 star review from Sea of Tranquility.

Rarely do you come across an album that is so brimming with sincerity, so honest, and so heartwarming... Pete Pardo - Sea of Tranquility

Woohoo! You are going to become very famous - congratulations!

This is the place where you could talk about your meeting with Gary Green, too ;).

  • Aw shucks. Say Dominik, I didn't know you were on O-R, that's neat. I mentioned you in a post the other day (yesterday?).

Gary is an exceptionally nice person and interesting to chat with. He encouraged me about my music and said he liked what I was doing. I wish he'd get back to making music too, he seems like he really wants to and he claims he's going to soon.

What else shall I say? Uhm, here's a story: a few of us hung out at a guitar store on Saturday morning and he showed me chords to "Playing the Game" (I asked when I heard him noodling on it). So, I got a few seconds of a guitar lesson. We were talking about music theory later and he said he doesn't know hardly any music theory, or the names of scales or modes. He learned entirely by ear.

I intend to go to GORGG 2007 in Denver, where I'll probably get to play some GG with the GORGG band comprising of very good fan musicians, Gary and possibly Kerry! Dominik, nothing's planned yet but Gary wants to have a GORGG in Germany in 2008, and it might happen.

  • Thanks for the impressions!

Finally, the ProgArchives team contacted me and asked for your website and mp3 samples. Of course I gave everything to them, so you will appear on the website soon, hopefully!
