Love 12.04, though right now I'm undecided whether I prefer using Unity or Enlightenment as my main desktop environment.

I've never been a big fan of buntu family, but 11.10 is neat. It replaced my Windows desktop permanently.

I recently switched to Pinguy OS 11.04 (apparently the 11.10 will stay in Beta stage due to some instability). Recommended if you are frustrated with the whole Unity + buggy Compiz thing

Seriously. You'd be insane to not give it a try. The only reason I'm not using it now is because I'm obsessive-compulsive about my library's organization.

  • flame_leaf

I played around a bit with Guayadeque. It's a really nice player, and it certainly can compete with Quodlibet with library size. I was turned on by the sheer amount of features that I haven't really seen anywhere else and would love to see in Quodlibet, but it lacks one feature that doesn't even make it an option for me. The lack of a *real* tag editor and a seriously inferior set of search functions. Despite all it's bells and whistles, it doesn't quite cut it compared to Quodlibet. However, I will say that, excluding Quodlibet, it's the best looking, fastest-performing, and most feature rich player I've ever encountered. On any operating system.

All knowledge that I've known of Guayadeque is only from the review. If you want to know how does it compare to other music player ( Quodlibet ), try asking other users of Guayadeque at OMG! Ubuntu! because I never actually used Quodlibet.

  • flame_leaf

This Guayadeque... intrigues me. How well does it hold up compared to Quodlibet with library scaling (this is coming from somone with almost 1TB of music)?

How about giving guayadeque a try? Well,i'll using it on my netbook and works well for a 23 GB music library. The main features includes : - Play mp3, ogg, flac, wma, mpc, mp4, ape, etc - Read and write tags in all supported formats - Allow to catalogue your music using labels. Any track, artist or album can have as many labels you want - Smart play mode that add tracks that fit your music taste using the tracks currently in play list - Ability to download covers manually or automatically - Suggest music using last.fm service - Allow fast access to any music file by genre, artist, album, etc. Last.fm group page:http://www.last.fm/group/Guayadeque?ac=guayad Download page: http://guayadeque.org/forums/index.php?p=/page/Download

Try DeadBeeF (http://deadbeef.sourceforge.net/) if you want CUE/APE support. Not sure if they are fully supported, though. For FLAC needs, i still stick with Banshee

Audaciuos do flac, not sure about ape/cue.

    outubro 2011
  • animeshader

is there any musicplayers support flac/ape/cue? Kitsune is based on libVLC and good for tagging both Japanese and Chinese Music. I did not test ape support in VLC an cue support may be added in the future. try http://code.google.com/p/utopia-no-kitsune/

Why is Rhythmbox full of glitches now I've upgraded to ocelot? it has a screaming fit when I open a new internet tab, and sometimes just stops by itself.

    outubro 2011
  • flame_leaf

Barring a few glitches, I'm loving Oneiric so far. It's improved over Natty in so many ways. Hell, even recovering from a broken desktop due to problems with FGLRX and Compiz was less headache-inducing than it was Natty.

Thank you very much for help :* I'am glad that bamboo pen&touch is supported (i hope to buy this one) And I'am planning to use Gimp and Inkscape. One more question: Have someone tried using tablet with apps running under wine (Photoshop etc.)?

    julho 2011
  • BlueBobX

@SithisDagoth (Wacom tablet): I had no problems with my old Graphire, and it's great with GIMP/Inkscape. Wacom themselves will point you at http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/linuxwacom, and that project has an FAQ that lists supported devices - basically anything produced since Pentium's were launched (from what I can see).

    julho 2011
  • flame_leaf

@SithisDagoth: Ubuntu's had built-in drivers for Wacom tablets since Ubuntu 9.04. I know this because I first switched from Windows with 8.10, and my laptop is a laptop/tablet hybrid with a Wacom touchscreen. Works flawlessly, and out of the box with Natty too.

    julho 2011
  • SithisDagoth

I think about buying an Wacom tablet and i wonder if i can use it with Ubuntu or will i need to install windows? Theres drivers only for Windows and Mac, but as we all know Linux has it's own ways to support stuff. Do someone have any experience using Wacom with Ubuntu? And is it possible?

@BRODYGATES1122: What games? Windows games? Keep in mind what operating system your using. Ubuntu has a long way to go if it wants to start competing in the gaming market.
