  Well, apparently, we're becoming a bit of a "listen to my band" spam magnet. In other news, the most significant UKPR-related release of the year is King Midas Sound's Waiting for You. It's Kevin Martin (God, Ice, Techno Animal, The Bug) doing a fusion of dubstep and lovers rock and it's awesome from start to finish. Also, everybody needs to hear the incredible mixtape KMS did for FACT magazine, which features tracks by MBV and A.R.   This sounds interesting. Wild Beasts is a more recent band, right? For what it's worth, this group has forum threads for suggesting connected artists (http://www.last.fm/group/UK+Post-Rock/forum/118725/_/513274) and recommending newer bands in the spirit of early UK post-rock (http://www.last.fm/group/UK+Post-Rock/forum/118725/_/527126).

  The Lull stuff I've heard has always been fairly generic dark ambient but pretty good, nevertheless. The only other Mick Harris project that has really stuck with me is Execution Ground by Painkiller - his trio with Bill Laswell and John Zorn. It's an insane mix of free improv, metal, dub and dark ambient.

  I agree with Evanescence being the best from Scorn. Gyral hasn't opened to me at all. Vae Solis and Plan B seem to have their moments but somehow they seem to be way beyond me still. Listening Stealth for the first time and it's really blowing my mind similarly like Evanescence did when I first heard it. Is there something by Lull or other of Mick Harris side projects worth checking out?

  @Pi: Well, like I say, Evanescence is way better than anything else. The associated remix album (Ellipsis) is also worth hearing (especially if you can find the box set of 12"s - which I have, of course). Of the earlier, more industrial stuff, I like Colossus. Of the later, more electronic, albums I like Greetings from Birmingham (although I don't actually have a copy of that one) and the recent Stealth.

  I like the deep, physical electronic bass of the later Scorn records but I prefer Nick Bullen's more melodic, dubby live playing on the earlier stuff. To me, Gyral is one of the less successful examples of a UK post-rocker moving into full-on electronica. But Mick Harris did get the formula refined a bit on more recent albums like Greetings from Birmingham.

  Gyral is actually a great 'mood' type album, and accompanied my writing well. The bass is just sick. I'll go for Evanescence next. It's too bad that nu-metal female singer has tarnished that word..
