do you think it's true? :\

  • From what I read in that interview, I'm starting to think that maybe Marcelo bribed, blackmailed, did something like that to the other members of the band to make Tarja leave them. I mean, it's possible, isn't it?

I didn't start listening to NW until Annette came into the picture, but I'm 100% loyal to the band. I saw them on stage at the Palladium in Worcester, MA, and even with all they were dealing with, they seemed to have made a good choice in picking Annette. Sure, the band's changed drastically with Tarja's leaves and Annette's replacing her and all, but as long as they're still around, I'll love listening to them just as I do now :)

  • I think Marcelo is an asshole, and evrything dramatically changed between Tarja and the guys the moment he showed up in their lifes,he´s bluffing like he always did,he only wants to make money, the more the best even if he helped to make Tarja´s head and the band to separate.
I think its Tarja ´s loss and tho i still like her and and her work, the band gained a lot with Annete as a new singer, they look happier,DPP is a blast of an album, and i love Nightwish, let them continue like this.

  • I think it might be very well true...for several evidences. There is nothing impossible with it..and there would be nothing wrong. I don't think this was the reason for the split.
Obviously Tuomas will never confirm (but he didn't really deny it ;) ) but actually Tarja confirmed it was true and recently someone asked her about it in an interview and she said she doesn't want to talk about this thing.

i think it's true, because Tuomas really feels something for Tarja (you can see that in his lyrics, just... see them and try to feel). especially the agressive side of him was showed on Dark Passion Play when he just needed to throw out his negative feelings. i can understand him completely and i'm not afraid of saying these things. i asked the closest person for me about that and he said that's true - he heard about that too.
the only one difference is that i felt like something is wrong when i listened to their old music and songs from DPP. the difference is colossal (for me, i mean).
but Tuomas is still Tuomas and no matter what will happen in the future, i will still love him, because of his work and his soul what i saw hidden in his lyrics.

And this closest person is a Nightwish fan?
However I tend to think the same..even if it could be a collective wrong idea ;) . The songs give that idea though.
I know what you mean about the difference between DPP and the rest..you can hear it, not just the music. Something changed in the lyrics , some thematics are not present anymore.
Maybe she was something like his muse.

  • Marcelo is a lovely guy, I met him and it's really unfair that everyone tells how terrible he is.

Think about what the NW guys did to Tarja before the letter. And think about the same problems Anette has got now with them. They aren't the angels you think they are.

I didn't want to believe it for so long... but now I know, it's true!!! I realized it when I heard "Dark Passion Play". All the pain Tuomas felt is flowing through his lyrics...
He made Tarja who is she now, he gave to her his music, his songs and his soul - and she betrayed him! He is the most amazing man in the world and she is unworth his Love. It hurts me so to listen songs from "Dark Passion Play" and see the darkness in his beautiful silver eyes... My only wish is him to be happy, to dream and feel love again... Tuomas, kuomaseni... rakastan sinua ainiaan...

in the lyrics is really everything, look at this:
"Did you ever hear what I told you?
Did you ever read what I wrote you?
Did you ever listen to what we played?

Did you ever let in what the world said?"

what do you think, to what person are these words?
for me they're obviously to Tarja.

  • But its long past... Now Nightwish suffers with Olsen girl.. :S
I dont think its anything of Tuomas's feelings for Tarja... Must have just been internal differences and Tarjas wedding is a concrete reason right.?

  • I think...time for me to give everyone a completely different POSSIBLE take on the situation (I don't know anything more about it than anyone else here).

Just think for a moment...what if it were the other way around, Tarja was in love with Tuomas and he considered her a friend only? Easy to understand how Marcelo could be jealous still. Look at Tarja's lyrics too.
    Could be, no?

Marcelo has always struck me as a bit of an an ass, who is not above lying. So I'd take it with a grain of salt. It might be true, but I'm skeptical of anything he says. though if half of what was said in the letter firing her was true (canceling a show so she can see a movie kind of thing) I really think they were justified, no matter what drama may have been occurring behind the scenes with unrequited love or whatever, she was quite the diva. A pretty voice is great, but if the personality behind it is.... divisive, in the end it will do more harm than good.

    ...

I don't think it's true, Tuomas is a mature man and he knew that his feelings for Tarja, love or friendship, shouldn't interfer with the band. They weren't getting along well, they were only together because the band so it was better for the band and for Tarja just broke up.

Listen Bye Bye Beatiful, that song said everything about Tarja & Tuomas.

  • Infernity said:
Bad or not, Tarja used to make Nightwish's sound harder.

No, she didn't. Tarja made NIghwish sound more operatic.

Nightwish are changing their direction, we don't find the theme about Ocean Soul any more. When Tarja left, Tuomas' lyrics drastically changed, it's obvious.

If you look at the lyrics for "The Poet and the Pendulum" you will discover something. The lyrics go:

"In the year of our Lord 2005,
Tuomas was called from the cares of this world.
He stopped crying at the end of each beautiful day.
The music he wrote had too long been without silence"

Meaning: In 2005 Tarja left Nightwish and Tuomas didn't have to "cry" about her anymore. He was "free" in whatever way you wish to interpret that word.

Of course the lyrics are about Tarja! Tuomas himself has said that the song is about Tarja. But that doesn't meen he had feelings for her! It only means that he tried to talk with her, tell her not to leave. But after Marcelo came into the picture everything changed. He poisoned Tarja's mind and she changed completely.

And for those of you who still believe that Tuomas had feelings for Tarja, remember he wrote angry lyrics on Century Child as well! (Slaying the Dreamer) And that was BEFORE Tarje was fired from the band.

  • Watch the last scene of the DVD "End of an Era". Look at Tuomas' face. He knows it. That's it. The last song they'll ever play with Tarja. Even before she knows it. It wasn't until they came backstage the band COLLECTIVELY handed her the letter. But you can see in Tuomas' face at the end of that concert that it is truly the end of an era...

I don't see the point. It's not that Tuomas has written angry songs just concerning Tarja subject. Even if he had feelings for her, it doesn't exclude the fact he could have written songs about other people around him .
The funny thing is that Slaying The Dreamer is someway connected to Tarja LOL. The story about that song is told in NW book ;).

I don't know why it would such a weird impossible thing if he was in love with her. Why Tuomas must say always the truth while Marcelo is a liar in any case?
If it was true it doesn't mean he fired her for this reason. I don't think it's impossible he had feelings for her. On the contrary there are things which indeed make think like that ;).

  • Ah the eternal argument goes on here I see...

Nightwish is not the first band to replace their singer, nor will they be the last. If people don't like it as it is now, then they shouldn't listen to it. It's pointless just to go to Nightwish sites to bash them for their choice and put down Anette. All it does is annoy the fans who still like them and start arguments.

About the "is it true"... I don't really care. It's the past why dwell?

"Ever felt away with me. Just once that all I need. Entwined in finding you one day."
"A nightingale in a golden cage. That's me locked inside reality's maze. Can't someone make my heavy heart light?"

  • You chose the long road, but we'll be waiting
    Bye, bye, beautiful!

    they said enough

and i really hope to see tarja in nw again, that's the music and vocal that i fell in love with 11 years ago

  • I'm not saying if it's true or not BUT Tarja DID give an interview to a finnish magazine saying that what Marcelo had said, was completely true. I in fact, have a copy of this magazine page.

+ End of Innocence- DVD, in "the whole story" Tuomas says something about songs called "Ever Dream" and "Gethsemane(if i remember correctly)" that they're very very personal and the songs descripe his feelings to one person. So we can only ask, is it Tarja or not?

  • What a bunch of load. Tuomas stated that he was never in love with Tarja. I saw in an interview that somewhere in 2001, Tuomas stated that he broke up with his long-term girlfriend. My guess is that Gethsemane is about one of his first serious relationships and Ever Dream is about the end of it and about Tuomas missing a "certain somebody", but it was never about Tarja.
