    Here is the Hitlist:

    1 - Foxtrot
2 - Selling England By The Pound
    3 - Nursery Cryme
4 - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
    5 - Trespass
    6 - A Trick Of The Tail
    7 - Wind & Wuthering
    8 - Duke
9 - And Then There Were Three
    10 - Genesis (1983)
    11 - Abacab
    12 - We Can't Dance
    13 - Invisible Touch
    14 - Calling All Stations
15 - And The Word Was (From Genesis To Revelation)

Of course, this list is quite biased, but anyway, it was fun, I guess. And to some extent, it shows that the Gabriel era is the better time of Genesis.

  • How is Abacab not the last thing on that list? At least the rest of the albums were interesting for one reason or another.

    Abacab is just there.

And furthermore, why do we hate From Genesis To Revelation so much? :(

  • Is Abacab really that bad? I've never listened to it, but sooner or later I'll have to listen to all of them.
I still don't know 'Genesis' and 'Duke' - are they any good? What are they comparable to (As for sound, songwriting etc.?).
The worst one I know so far, for me, is Invisible Touch, although I like 'Throwing it all away' and 'Invisible Touch' very much. 'Tonight...' is also not bad.

  • Abacab isn't that bad. Well, it's got Dodo on it, and the title track's OK. Me And Sarah Jane is also a very interesting song lyrically. It's still my least favourite album of Genesis though.

Most of the later albums had at least one great song on though...

Genesis - Home By The Sea
    Invisible Touch - Domino
We Can't Dance - Dreaming While You Sleep

I actually like Duke more with every listen, particularly the instrumental at the end. By this stage in their career, the music was starting to sound very different, but if you can try to put the Gabriel Years out of your mind, and treat them as a different band, Duke can be a very rewarding listen.

  • My favorite PC albums in order are Abacab, Duke, Genesis. I adore Abacab and think it is their best post-Gabriel album.

  • We Can't Dance - Dreaming While You Sleep

We Can't Dance had several of them. Driving the Last Spike in particular.

    Also,
Calling All Stations - Alien Afternoon

To be frankly, I love Duke. It's the beginning of Phil Collins' sound(?), which is more "pop" (but not that pop). What I mean is that drums is more visible.

Songs that I love from that album are "Alone Tonight", "Misunderstanding", and of course "Behind the Lines". I read it somewhere (Phil Collins' biography?) that some songs (misunderstanding?) shouldn't be there (should be in phil's private collection after the separation)?.

But I love those songs because they still carry Genesis sound. After Duke I stopped listening to Genesis. :(

"Behind the Lines" is so special to me. When my daughter was still a baby and sometime cried in the middle of the night, I used to hold her, walked around the room, and played this song. She calmed down. Wierd ...

I was a little bit late to vote I guess. :)
My list would be like below:
    SEBTP
    TLLDOB
    Nursery Cryme
    Foxtrot....
The rest changes from time to time.

IMHO, anyone who vote(d) any other album besides the ones above as her/his most favorite Genesis album doesn't know what "True Genesis" is.

  • I guess my favorite albums would be Trespass, Selling England By The Pound, and Wind & Wuthering in chronological order, can't really rank them by favoritism 'cause that's changing all the time.

  • id have to say Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Selling England by the Pound are my favorite Genesis albums. for sure.

    I propose starting a True, TRUE Genesis Group for all those who know that SEBTP is the best album. ;}

    The path is clear
    Though no eyes can see
The course laid down long before.
And so with gods and men
The sheep remain inside their pen,
Though many times they've seen the way to leave.
  • Best Album is ofcourse SEBTP Followed by NC and TP Followed by FT

And The Word Was (From Genesis To Revelation) -
    Trespass +
    Nursery Cryme +
    Foxtrot +
Selling England By The Pound +
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 20
A Trick Of The Tail -
    Wind & Wuthering -
And Then There Were Three -
    Duke -
    Abacab -
    Genesis (1983) -
    Invisible Touch -
    We Can't Dance 20
    Calling All Stations -

  • How the hell can SEPTB be voted off? It's easily their best album.

Selling England By The Pound has 3 masterpiece songs, and 5 mediocreish songs. Foxtrot has no mediocre songs if you ask me. I think the top three albums are all equally good.

  • You gotta be kidding me... I'm with PinKkFloyDd on this one. I have no idea why Trespass and Wind and Wuthering are so low also. I think we're getting a bit of groupthink on this one because Supper's Ready is on Foxtrot.

I also don't understand why Abacab is not the last one. I'm there with Sergeant Pompus: "Abacab is just there." But I'm glad, that the Top 5 is from the Gabriel-Era and 6 and 7 the Prog-Rock-Collins-Era. "From Genesis To Revelation" is also a great album, don't understand why it's last.
