Americans getting hassled?

  • Americans getting hassled?

i dont want to turn this into another political group, but i was wondering (from our 5 american members) if they have been treated any differently since the whole 'war on terror' issue.

i know its wrong, but i for one have found myself either avoiding american company when travelling or perhaps being overly guarded since reading more and more about american foreign policy.

    notice any differences when travelling?

    Very interesting topic!

But hm, I hope that didn't happen in Europe? Did it?
    ?_?

Cause well, as far as I know (but I might be mistaken, I'm sorry if so!) people did not change their views about America at all...Although as I said, there might be people who think differently.
I just know that in neither Poland, nor Germany people ever seemed to have changed their thoughts about American people. o=

I think that it has changed a bit here in France. Many people say they don't like Bush and the Americans. But, as I learned in History lesson, it an ancient matter of fact, because we are jealous...we're not governing the world anymore.
But this is not my case, I don't have anything against American people^^

    Laissent parfois sortir de confuses paroles;
L'homme y passe à travers des forêts de symboles
Qui l'observent avec des regards familiers.

I had some German bloke call me a Bush loving Republican when I was in Cambodia. I guess he didn't hear the Irish accent...

I haven't noticed any change here... but then it's always good to remember some things here (Chile):
-If someone calls an American "gringo", most of the times is not offensive.
-Avoid calling citizens of the US "Americans" or "americanos" since we believe here that America is one continent made up by 3 geopolitical regions: North, Central, and South America (we say that America goes from Yukon down to Tierra del Fuego).
-Oh, and in Chile... try to avoid saying "frijoles", "aguacate" or using any kind of mexican slang.

  • O here in Belgium, people used to hang pamflets at their window against Bush. Things like: Wanted Dead or Alive... Since Obama things have changed positively. For me it doesn't matter at all. Politics are not piece of cake.
