  • Favorite moments, lyrics and why this is one of your favorite albums.

    Discuss.

  • Everytime I listen to this my favorite song changes. First it was Title and Registration, then A Lack of Color and Passenger Seat and then We Looked Like Giants.

The lyrics for Title and Registration (which is currently my ringtone) are really clever and the 'ba-baa' of The Sound Of Settling gets stuck in your head everytime.

    What's not to love?

  • this album made me fall in love with death cab.
all of the lyrics are amazing.

  • My favorite song from this album would easily be tied between Passenger Seat and We Looked Like Giants, yet somehow We Looked Like Giants always manages to make me cry, no matter what.

    Amazing album.

the dead shopping malls rise like
    mountains beyond mountains
and there's no end in sight
i need the darkness, someone please cut the lights
  • Listening to Passenger Seat while falling asleep in the backseat driving home from the mountains.

  • All the songs are great, not a single bad or mediocre one. Also, I once fell asleep listening to this album. It was probably the best nap I ever had.

  • Transatlanticism is a beautiful song. It's what first got me into Death Cab. I love the emotion and lyrics in Lightness - "Your heart is a river that flows from your chest through every organ, your brain is the dam and I am the fish who can't reach the cord."

I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then I could travel just by folding a map
No more airplanes, or speedtrains, or freeways
There'd be no distance that can hold us back

There'd be no distance that could hold us back
There'd be no distance that could hold us back

This is my favorite part, but the whole theme of distance is one we can all relate to. http://www.fakejazz.com/reviews/2003/deathcab4.shtml pretty much says everything I'd want to say about the album

Now on Spotify and iTunes (etc.) !!
