Thomas Pynchon Group Radio

  • Thomas Pynchon Group Radio

I see that we are getting a steady stream of new members here - hurrah!

& also that our group charts contain some very interesting stuff. Which leads me on to a possible discussion thread...

Spend a half hour or so listening to the group radio which will hopefully play tracks that are completely new to you. Take one of these tracks that is new to you and write it up here, love or hate or indifference - let this thread know!

Melt-Banana - Shield Your Eyes, a Breast in the Well on Your Hand - annoying as hell!

  • Melt Banana is a good group though. Though that song...

How ought we think of our group radio? The tunes will probably be quite varied.

I think of it as of chaos. Can't prevent it, so I try to enjoy it.
But seriously, it's a good station and I usually enjoy it a lot.

  • Robert Mitchum - Jean and Dinah

Ah well, this isn't really that new to me because a friend has this LP and I've listened to a few tracks of it...
But who can refuse Robert Mitchum singing calypso in cod west indian lilting tones. It might not be cool now for an actor to adopt such an accent nowadays but this is a cool album for a tiki party nonetheless.
The track is TocarJean and Dinah and its the odd ball type of stuff that one of you fine and dangerously wrong bastards have seen fit to listen to.
That's followed, of course with some rock, sorry ROCK, courtesy of Boris for that whole peas-in-a-pod-they-are-not thing that this radio station seems to throw up.
    All fine stuff.

  • The eclectic nature of the station is a good thing indeed.
