I didn't know Yo La Tengo covered White Light! I know they covered something from the 3rd album, I think I'm Set Free.

    Anyway, I don't think anyone's mentioned:
    Mick Ronson - WHite Light
Bauhaus - Waiting for the Man
Mott the Hoople - Sweet Jane
and almost everyone seems to have covered All Tomorrow's Parties including Japan, Tom Robinson, Simple Minds, Siouxsie, Bryan Ferry & probably others.

  • well there's the obvious Lou Reed one's dunno if you can call them covers though seeing as he wrote them. but he put She's My Best Friend on Coney Island Baby and he re-hashed Stephanie says (seriously re-hashed) for Berlin, and renamed it Caroline Says.

  • ברי סחרוף made a great "Venus In Furs" cover

  • Jeff Buckley once had a go on All Tomorrow's Parties. Quite decent. To be found somewhere over the internet.

The Pink Mountaintops cover of Joy Division's "Atmosphere" could have been a VU song. I've been looking for VU covers because of it. Thanks for this list.

The only songs I haven't seen posted yet, worth mentioning, are The Decemberists' cover of "I'm Sticking With You" and Big Star's "Femme Fatale" (which Duran Duran also covered :p)

If what I've read is true, Nico actually performs (I'm) "Waiting for the Man" with Bauhaus on the Press the Eject and Give Me the Tape performance.

AND, I have to mention that one of my very favorite bands, The Black Angels, was named after a VU song.

    Nice pants!
  • Roky Erickson's cover of Heroin is pretty cool.

And let's not forget precious Moe and her versions of Heroin, Pale Blue Eyes and I'm Waiting For The Man.

One cover you should definitely check out is Mad Juana's gorgeous Venus in Furs which can also be played in their MySpace.

The Fatima Mansions - Lady Godiva's Operation is worth checking out too.

And what else? Ah, Pale Blue Eyes.

  • Mott the hoople did sweet jane and the melvins/nirvana did venus in furs as did the smashing pumpkins

  • Devotchka's Venus in Furs - Flat out one of the best Velvet Underground covers out there.

Garbage's Candy Says - I'm not fond of it, but it's an okay rendition nonetheless.

    Rasputina's All Tomorrow's Parties - Cello-infused rock FTMFW!

    RHCP

The Red Hot Chili Peppers played cover of "Venus In Furs" on one of their concert, bu it wasn't very good :/ U can find it on Utube.

" 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'
'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
'You must be,' said the Cat, 'or you wouldn't have come here' "
