Best Album Artwork?

the pumpkins have insanely good album covers. Some photography and some drawn.

my favorite is zeitgeist bc the way i interpret it, it seems to be making a statement about global warming which is soo cool!

i also like siamese dream cuz its soo cute and the model for adore took a good picture

LOL. I don't think it's about global warming. It rather says that the U.S.A. (symbolized by the Statue of Liberty) are a "sinking ship", i.e. everything gets worse and worse but yet the statue is not completely under water which means that there could be a way to escape/"save the ship from drowning" just before it's too late. I don't share these views because I think nation states are fundamentally wrong.

My favorite artworks are SD and Adore. It's a draw.

best album artwork IMO is machina. i'm someone who has virtually no concept of art, but to me each of the plates in the gatefold vinyl are amazing. I like the art for each album progressively more, just as I do the albums themselves, i think.

Hmm, I actually don't like the Zeitgeist cover that much (I have the red cover).

MCIS is the best, the artwork in the booklet is awesome too. I really like the Pisces Iscariot cover too...the greens are really nice.

Also, not specifically cover artwork, but the design of the new sp.com is pretty amazing.

There is a surprising amount of Zeitgeist love on here. Noowt wrong with that explicitly, just the cover is IMHO really bland. MCIS has great artwork and the tampered photogrpahyof the Siamese Dream is interesting to look at. To be honest my favourite is from 'The Aeroplane Flies High' boxset, the booklet has some really good photos and the covers for the some of the CDs are good. I especially the 1979 CD inlay which has some awesome pictures of James looking... AWESOME!!

Machina!!! In fact I think the only artwork that I don't like that much is the gothic mood in Adore. It's good, and it has all to do with the album in a whole, but it's not as meaningful to me as the other ones.

That picture "heading to the tree" in Adore's booklet is probably my favourite from Pumpkins. Just plain beautiful...
But I think you can't talk about Pumpkins' artwork without mentioning Machina's. Vasiliy Kafanov made an impressive work there, all those symbols, the paper, the smell... amazing!

MCIS artwork is the best. I like the Zeit artwork too though. I have a poster from when SP was playing at the Fillmore in SF in 2007 and the art is amazing! I have to find it.

My all-time favorite SP album artwork is the back of the Bullet With Butterfly Wings single (the rocket crashing into the countryside with the rainbows, etc). MCIS artwork was some clever, beautiful stuff. :)
